Peter Lynn on Discovery channel

Bladerunner - 4-10-2010 at 08:30 PM

I'm not sure if it is the same down south but the Discovery channel show on P.L. and his ( not so ) speed buggy .

I was slightly disapointed. WAaaaay to short and a little too focused on the Kiwis. They mention the competition but don't exactly name them ?? !! :ticking:

Is anybody savey enough to link to it ?

Kamikuza - 4-10-2010 at 10:19 PM

Up yer bum - I'm sure they didn't focus ENOUGH on the Kiwis :D would like to see it too!

Whats a Kiwi??

Ok calm down Kami I'm just fool'n with you:evil:

It's important to be able to recognize a Kiwi....

Then, of course, there is the Kiwi that you can fly

What I found disapointing was that the show was all about them going for the speed record. They show Arie going WAY faster than the PL buggy ever did but simply mention the Dutch beat then exceeded them ( + start off with the Dutch Canadian camps flags ! ) They don't even give Arie the nod for going fastest in the PL buggy ?

Not a word about the maker of the buggy that DID what the show was supposed to be about ? No mention of how the tires have evolved into thinner larger wheel ? Not exactly balanced reporting !

got a link to the vid?

indigo_wolf - 5-10-2010 at 07:12 AM

If you are looking for that kind of "balanced" reporting, you are going to have to look elsewhere:

Kite buggys and landsailing continually breaking records

Going Fast on a Kite Buggy (Peter Lynn Himself Blog)

Generally speaking, I don't think they mainstream media is going to dig that hard, unless they have a resource/reference to tap.

If you look around on the Discovery Channel Forums there are plenty of people pitching segment ideas. That might be a be the only way to get what you want.

Sam

P.S. The link to the vid would be easier to find, if you could tell us what show the segment appeared on. The Discovery Channel is a BIG place.

Spent a few minutes on the site and ended up in a completely different field and forgot what I was looking for, cool stuff about space travel though:wow:

This is a kiwi -

I expect it's a bit of a stretch for lazy Americans to say the extra vowel, but this is a kiwifruit -

No, using kiwi to describe the fruit is NOT American English, it's totally wrong. I could be really strict and insist you call it by it's correct name, the Chinese Egg Gooseberry but with all those sylables, you'd probably have to get into your SUV just to drive to the end of the line.

:P
