pass the Pansh?

WELDNGOD - 7-10-2010 at 04:46 PM

I have asked Pansh kites to let me be the one to bring a pass the Pansh offer to the PKF.
First off ,I am NOT affiliated w/ Pansh in any way . Other than the fact that I do have and fly some Pansh kites. And I understand that they have made alot of changes and are getting alot better, that IS why I want to bring this to our community.
To see for ourselves if Pansh is a good kite or not. It will run just like all the other pass programs. But NO brand new members, this is for existing /known members in good standing only. And please, NO Pansh haters. If ya don't like em period, then just don't bother.

The 2 kites that Pansh will offer us for this are a 4m Flux p5v and a 6.1m FIRST p2v.

here is the only link I could find to show the FIRST http://www.panshkite.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&...

and the Flux is here http://www.panshkite.com/index.php?gOo=goods_search_list.dwt...

I no nothing about these kites . I just thought if enough peeps want to honestly try and evaluate them, for just the cost of shipping it to the next guy, then what the heck . I will let you know if Pansh has any special requirements. I think I read somewhere about signing your name on inside structure material. So I guess start a list.

stetson05 - 7-10-2010 at 04:55 PM

I am up for trying them. Why not. I have liked the ones I have well enough. I am more into depower now but I think I can give them a fair shake. Thanks WG.

WELDNGOD - 7-10-2010 at 05:04 PM

That's one... come on guys , it's a chance to try a different kite.

Bladerunner - 7-10-2010 at 05:15 PM

I'm not sure if I am a hater but have been called a " kite snob " for my panshOpinions. I passed on the Canadian pass . I didn't think it would have a chance of getting a balanced review from Van . I started to think that it may be good for us to pick it apart but it became clear that any opinion that wasn't panshPositive would be written off . Kite snobs and all! :dunno:

Are you sure it is giving the kite a balanced review if you don't include the " haters " ?

P.S. GREAT Avatar W.G.

WELDNGOD - 7-10-2010 at 05:32 PM

Bladey, I really meant more"the I hate pansh and nothin will ever change my mind" mentality.

van - 7-10-2010 at 05:40 PM

When Blade mention 'Van' , he means Vancouver .. not me...hahaha...:bouncy: and btw.. put me down .. I woudn't mine trying one out. I have the 5.0M legend right now and it's not too bad.

tridude - 7-10-2010 at 05:44 PM

FYI already done with the Ace...........................

WELDNGOD - 7-10-2010 at 05:46 PM

so far it's
stetson 05
van what's your location? state/country?

bobalooie57 - 7-10-2010 at 07:06 PM

WG, will these be at Wildwood? I'd love to give them a try if so, if not, add me to the list, b57, NY.

WELDNGOD - 7-10-2010 at 07:17 PM

Don't know , I don't have them yet. But if I get em, I don't see why I couldn't set em up and let peeps try em. Just give me your honest opinion. Probably a good idea, there will be quite a few US east coast buggiers there to test them. I think the first p2v is a buggy racekite and the flux is a beginner / intermediate buggy kite. I will let you know more when I get the info/kites.

kteguru - 7-10-2010 at 09:11 PM

If you have them at WW I'll give them a go:spin:

van - 7-10-2010 at 09:18 PM

I'm in the Houston , TX area with Dylan and Houston Airhead ...

So when are kites coming around? if november, we can all try it out at DBBB.

Todd - 8-10-2010 at 04:22 AM

Thanks Donnie, I'll take them for a spin!

Bladerunner - 8-10-2010 at 06:35 AM

Thanks WG

I will still pass . We are moving in to our wet season. Very hard to find a dry windy day that won't potentialy get the kite dirty. The buggy season is wrapping up and snowkiting is coming.

NJLandboarder - 8-10-2010 at 01:54 PM

you can put me up for a go with one of the kites i have a 5m ace

WELDNGOD - 8-10-2010 at 03:39 PM

Gotcha BR, no worries:cool2:
NJL, I'm hoping that I will have them for WW

NJLandboarder - 8-10-2010 at 08:55 PM

sweeet sound great thanks for organizing this

WELDNGOD - 12-10-2010 at 03:45 PM

I got them today and they are sweet! Pansh has really stepped it up a bit. The bridals are way better than the old ones. They do not have lines or handles so if you have no handleset and lines you're screwed. Newbs can try the 4m Flux, but the First proto is only for experienced buggy pilots,it is deffo a buggy race kite. Not for static flight fo sho! I gotta get me one of these bad boys. Can't wait for WW!

silvereaglekiter - 12-10-2010 at 04:09 PM

Il defiantly take a shot at them at ww Its gona be a Race kite Smakdown

kiteboyza - 20-10-2010 at 06:49 PM

I have a Flux 4m, 2m and a 6.1 First, I am in Canada but you have to go via the Pansh Forum to get on the list

kiteboyza - 20-10-2010 at 06:59 PM

shehatesmyhobbies - 20-10-2010 at 08:50 PM

Got a chance to fly the 4m flux tonight (thanks Donnie)I was actually impressed with the response and power this kite had. You can really steer that thing with brake input. I look forward to checking out the bridal system when the sun comes up!

Conditions were onshore 8mph winds.

WELDNGOD - 25-10-2010 at 05:37 AM

well, I have allowed peeps to fly these 2 kites. And everyone I talked to said the same thing the Flux in 4m is a great user friendly kite. It actually flew very well by brake input and had manners.

The winds turned out to be nukin and very gusty ,I gave an attempt at buggyin w/it(the 6.1 first) ,but it was tip tucking and bowtying left and right. So I put it away after it launched me like a missle out of the seat. I have some video I think, will post later.

I will now get ready to send out the flux so we need to start a list for it.
The First 6.1, I am going to hold until I take it to my local beach for some clean onshore flow, then I can give it a shakedown. After that I will start a list for it(experienced only on this one , sorry).
The kites will come K.O. as that is how pansh sent them out :puzzled::puzzled:. So if you don't have a handleset and lines don't waste your time.

bobalooie57 - 25-10-2010 at 05:48 AM

Please add me to the list! Bob in NY. I wish I could've tried it in Wildwood, but it wasn't to be.

WELDNGOD - 25-10-2010 at 06:17 AM

list for 4m Flux is as follows:

1 stetson05
2 van
3 NJLandboarder (ask your Dad first cause you gotta pay to ship it to the next guy)
4 bobalooie57

Bladerunner - 25-10-2010 at 05:38 PM

SO .......

How did the race kite stand up ?

shehatesmyhobbies - 25-10-2010 at 06:18 PM

I did get a chance to fly the 4m flux while at the WBB! I was very surprised by the brake response and true power the kite had. I have owned and flown several Pansh kites, and this one handled the best!

Thanks Don

Bladerunner - 25-10-2010 at 07:10 PM

and .........

Stacked up next to the Vapors, Combats and YaS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s the new Pansh race kite was ......

I doubt all 4 kites will be together on the same beach in North America soon. I'm very interested in how it went.

????????????

Bladerunner - 26-10-2010 at 06:34 AM

Bump

Did the Pansh race kite even make an appearance at WW?

silvereaglekiter - 26-10-2010 at 06:44 AM

the P-first 6.1 was a little big for the conditions so It didn't see much air time. WG will give it a test run soon.

kteguru - 26-10-2010 at 07:08 AM

Hi BladeRunner. All the kites were at Wildwood but due to most of the days being very tubulent wind over the buildings made it really impossible to spend too much time on any race kite. I got to fly both Pansh kites Wed. night after the rain stopped and I have to say I was pretty impressed. Was just a static fly for a few hours but the Flux was well mannered and very responsive. The First also flew very well and didn't feel like it had any bad manners. Unfortunately we all know that all of that changes once your moving on a bug/board and a kites true character comes out. What I can say is that the overall quality was impressive for Pansh. We checked them out in Don's room while waiting for the rain to stop and the bridles were nicely sewn. Either sleeved or unsleeved spectra. The sail was sewn well and overall I couldn't find any sloppyness anywhere,,,,and I'm generally pretty peticular. The only thing I could say that may be a downside was the fabric itself. It seemed quite soft and not "crispy" as with other manufacturers. I don't know anything about fabric though so I can't really say whether or not this is a good or a bad thing.

Overall I think if Pansh keeps up the quality that I saw in these two kites across everything they make then Pansh has become a viable alternative in the kiting world. There's room for Ford and Ferrari in the kiting world. I'll look forward to trying them out at future kite events.

Just my 2c of course:smilegrin:

Bladerunner - 26-10-2010 at 05:39 PM

Thank You Guru !

One has to give Pansh points for trying ! At least they aren't just sitting back selling the same old stuff because it moves.

I am curious. Is it possible that they are trying to use a new / lighter fabric on the race kite ? Are the new race kite and the Flux the same material? It seems like lighter material is the new, must do with the race kites.

WELDNGOD - 26-10-2010 at 07:16 PM

BR, It seems to me to be similar to the Sprint material, it is softer and not crispy. And yes I think the flux and the First p2v are of the same material.

WELDNGOD - 1-11-2010 at 03:55 PM

Stetson05, I sent it your way today priority mail . You should get it wed-thur. Cost less than 12 bucks to ship flat rate.

stetson05 - 1-11-2010 at 04:38 PM

cool! Thanks

van - 1-11-2010 at 04:42 PM

Not sure how long Stetson05 will test the kite before he sends it out but could we arrange the ordering so that I get it the week of Thanksgiving so I can bring to DBBB so everyone can try it there? You can move me farther down the list.

WELDNGOD - 1-11-2010 at 05:20 PM

We don't really have much of a list so stetson05 can do his thing and send it to you next. When is the DBBB? I put it out at WWBB and a few people tried it out. Everyone is all into de-powers and arcs n whatnot,so it only saw a few flights.

van - 1-11-2010 at 08:15 PM

DBBB is the thanksgiving week in Galveston. I usually take that entire week off from work so I'll try to be down there most of the time so anyone that comes to it can try it out.

WELDNGOD - 3-11-2010 at 01:31 PM

WELDNGOD - 3-11-2010 at 05:55 PM

Here is the video of me flying the pansh first 6.1at WWBB
http://www.vimeo.com/16483432

XdisasterXdrewX - 4-11-2010 at 02:05 PM

I got the 6m Ace and I LOVE it.
Pansch is all i have used so ive really grown to liking them.

Bladerunner - 4-11-2010 at 04:30 PM

Good video WG !
Are those the new Pansh handles?
I'm sure it's not an issue if you are flying but it is hard to tell visually what is leading and trailing edge on that thing?
Pansh gets points for their choices in graphics ! Another kite that catches your eye when in the sky for sure.

What is the story on those bits at the end where you struggled?

WELDNGOD - 4-11-2010 at 04:48 PM

No,on the handles BR,I made em'. And I was flying on just handles in wind everyone else was flying 2-4 m kites in.
I should not have had a racekite out in that lumpy offshore wind ,but the beach was empty so why not. I can tell you this, it's floaty.

rtz - 6-11-2010 at 08:49 PM

I don't know if I have enough time on the board yet; but I'd like to try some Pansh with my buggy.

If not enough time; I have two ideas:

1.) I could pay a portion of getting another Pansh kite into the rotation.

2.) I could buy a group selected Pansh kite; try it out and then send it out to be on the list.

Let me know.

kiteboyza - 7-11-2010 at 06:18 AM

Hey Weldngod, no disrespect but it looked like you were not ready for this racekite (kite killers?) No harness, come on, you looked a little scared of it. I also noticed you had it way to high up in the window, it should be closer to the deck. The back stalling, you had to much brakes on it and thats why it spins so easy. Any race kite will do this if badly setup.Let the brakes out so you have just enough to land the kite. Once flying slide hands half way down the handles and thus pulling the brakes in, you will feel a totally different kite. By taking almost all the brakes off, the kite will be semi depowered, you will be able to fly a bigger size kite bigger winds and cut upwind faster than most. Try it next time you are out, you will see a different kite all together

ps. This is not an attack on your flying skills, merely some suggestions before the sensitive police jump on me

regards
kiteboyza:singing:

WELDNGOD - 7-11-2010 at 06:40 AM

you fly your kite .....I'll fly mine... :wee:

kiteboyza - 7-11-2010 at 06:54 AM

lol...nough said

bobalooie57 - 7-11-2010 at 06:57 AM

@kiteboyza, did Pansch take the First to WC this year? I don't recall seeing it in any of the pics I saw posted. If so, how did it do?

kiteboyza - 7-11-2010 at 10:17 AM

yes, only its called the team issue kite, one o the pilots finished 6th overall in the British team, Tommy Greirson. Different colours for the team we have all black with gold, all orange, all red mine all purple, all blue and a few other colours...

hope I'm not busting anybodys balls in this post :wee:

Bladerunner - 7-11-2010 at 01:47 PM

WOW . 6th over all is nothing to sneeze at.

I don't follow those standings but am once again impressed with Pansh's efforts.

I am pretty sure that WG was using the methods he was due to the winds coming over the buildings and off shore that day ? + Those East Coast people LOVE their killers in a way we don't get over here! ( also no offence meant )

Watching the Dutch fly at NABX a couple of years ago was a huge wake up call ! They fly the way you are describing. I was taught to fly with index finger above the top line. I just thought Rip' had a funny style ' cause he's smaller. NOW I have seen the light I still don't enjoy race kites but fly my other fixed bridles SOoo much better.

Folks on the East Coast can look to Kiteguru for an example of great handle control! IMHO.

stetson05 - 17-11-2010 at 07:03 PM

I passed it to Van today. I only had one flyable day when I wasn't working but I forgot the lines and handles. Of course, after I shipped it off the wind was great today. Oh well, it should be available at the DBBB via van. Thanks for the opportunity

WELDNGOD - 10-12-2010 at 06:55 PM

Any word van? Good / Bad kite? It was so good you are taking it apart and copying it? LOL I did see it in a video you posted . Looked like it was doin O.K. Let us hear how it went. Bobalooie was next on the list ,I do believe. WG

van - 10-12-2010 at 08:21 PM

Its a great beginner kite. I actually used it to buggy and it did well in about 10mph wind. I even used it to landboard with the new Flexboardz. I actually made some comments on other post but forgot about this one. I can send it to the next person. I didn't hear from you so didn't know who was next. I figure if I didn't hear from anyone, I might keep it.. hehehe..

My impressions:
1) great color .. gotta love the green and red in the sky
2) much better quality in fabric , sewing quality, and bridle .. looks like any of the top manufacturer
3) flies very smooth and much faster than my Pansh Legend.

A couple buddies of mine wanted to learn so I taught them using this kite. They liked it much better compare to the Legend. It was much more responsive.

bobalooie57 - 10-12-2010 at 08:50 PM

van, sent U2U with info. @weldngod, I hope there won't be a problem with this kite seeing snow? I will treat it as my own, and carefully hang it to dry after a session with it.

van - 12-12-2010 at 09:16 AM

Kite is all boxed up and ready to ship monday morning. I took it out again yesterday in 15-18mph wind and it was a blast. We flew it next to a HQ 4m Scout and HQ 3m beamer. The 4m Flux was the easiest to handle in those winds on an ATB. It flew much faster and closer to the edge of the window. The 3m Beamer was pulling me off the board at that wind speed but the Flux was behaving nicely.

bobalooie57 - 12-12-2010 at 09:27 AM

I'm looking forward to getting some time with this kite on the snow with my snowboard, and your post sounds encouraging. Good to hear you had a good time on it, and thanks again to WELDNGOD for sponsoring this pass, and Pansh for providing the kite.

bobalooie57 - 16-12-2010 at 11:30 AM

Received the Flux in yesterday's mail! I've only just opened the box and looked at it in it's bag, and already 1st thought is , what a beautiful green! Took it with on my circuit to check the sites, and of course there was little wind to go with the little snow. :sniff: Can't wait to try it out!

Red Baron - 22-12-2010 at 11:14 PM

Met up with Van in Galveston while he had the Flux and he let me use it on the beach with my landboard for a good 35 Minutes or so... I have been flying a 4m scout for the past year or so (first kite) - i have flown other 4 line kites (with handles) but only static. I enjoyed landboarding while flying the flux much more than my scout... :shocked2: In my opinion, it handled much better, was more responsive, the power was about the same, but a much smoother flight. It was a true joy... The fact that the Flux is on handles and my scout is on a bar probably had an affect on my experience with these two kites. Either way, the flux got me more interested and excited about the sport. In fact, I have had my scout for over a year taken it out probably 8 times, been reading post on the power kite forum off and on for about that time, and I just recently became a member so that i could tell ya'll about this sneaky fun kite. Needless to say I want one... Thanks again Van for approaching me on the beach and letting me try out your gear! Looking forward to Tuesday if everything works out! Thanks for Passing the Pansh!

van - 22-12-2010 at 11:31 PM

No problem, if the wind is right, you'll have to try out the flysurfer ... it will put a big grin on your face the first time it lifts you .

XdisasterXdrewX - 19-9-2011 at 08:05 AM

is this still going on???

XdisasterXdrewX - 20-9-2011 at 03:40 PM

BUMP

WELDNGOD - 20-9-2011 at 03:57 PM

Hey Drew, you wanna fly a flux? I guess I can ship it to ya after WWBB,I wanna have it there so more peeps can make up their own mind. I think it was like 12 bucks to ship w/ tracking. The If it fit it ships thing the usps has.

XdisasterXdrewX - 20-9-2011 at 08:59 PM

Heck yes!
Hows it work? I pay for shipping, use it for a week, then ship it back to you?
Just wondering, how big is it?

lamrith - 20-9-2011 at 09:24 PM

Yeah let us new guys know how the program works. What size/model pansh are still in the program? I would be up for having a go after X..

WELDNGOD - 21-9-2011 at 03:20 PM

lamrith, usually ,you need to be a known user for a good while,a yr or so. But ,in your case since you are keen with my Bro Todd and Brother Jeff,I can grandfather ya in.:bigok: I'll pay to send it to Drew, and Drew will pay to send it to you.You use it for a couple weeks, and send to the next guy. If no one else gets on the list, you send it back to me. And I keep it until somebody wants to fly it again.
The kite is a 4m Flux, 4 line foil. It will be K.O. ,so you gotta have your own control gear. Which anybody who has been a member long enough to get it,has gear. The kite is a really easy flyer, doesn't mind brake input. Which means you can turn it by brakes alone. Has plenty of power without being overpowering. I would hand it to a noob in 8-10 ,no problem.

This will be it's second trip to Washington. Been around the country once already.
I will send it out after the WWBB.

lamrith - 21-9-2011 at 03:47 PM

Yeah no rush at all, and I completely understand the tenure thing makes total sense.

Jeff and I are gonna meet at a local park in about an hour to see if there is any wind, maybe try and get a Pepper2 8m flying wish us luck, it's been flat calm here most of the day. GRRRRR

Sounds like a real mellow flier. I know my buster 3.3 pulls real solid @10mph least flying static. I have handles, bar, lines I can use with it whenever it arrives.

DREW - Take your time bro, I know weather here is turning south quick and I may be almost done for the year. Rains start in Oct usually and stop in.. june..

XdisasterXdrewX - 22-9-2011 at 09:32 PM

@lamrith
It starts to get really windy around this time and it only rains like 3 of the 7 days a week. If you want you can take it first and then send it to me so you can at least get SOME time on it. I got a 6m and a 4.5m Pansh already and the only reason I want this is to try something different.

Let me know if you want it first.

@Weldngod
When is WABB over?

lamrith - 23-9-2011 at 05:27 AM

@X Same thing here bud, I live in seattle, WA.. and I just got hands on 2 new kites, so I am in no rush at all, just wanting to try something different. Didn't know how long the demo's usually were so wanted to get name on the list. I am not really thinking about trying it until springtime...

WELDNGOD - 23-9-2011 at 04:54 PM

WWBB is over on the 25 th of Oct. Whenever you guys feel the time is right let me know, I have them forever I suppose. I just have to share em. I got no prob w/ that! I like having different stuff for peeps to try out.
WG

XdisasterXdrewX - 23-9-2011 at 05:17 PM

thanks alot!
I guess I'll take it whenever you're done with WWBB.
Just send me a U2 and i'll give you my info whenever.
