Im working on making my own NPW-5 (by making i mean i found a girl in my class at school who is really good at sewing and said she could sew it for
me)
while i was looking for plans to design my kite by i stumbled upon a page on home made handles ive seen bent pvc before and it is good for an npw with
no lines but this page shows a set made of clear poly carbonate plastic thats bullet proof they are insanely cool

I stole his QR idea.

Easy to make them using 1/2 " PVC pipe . Mark out the shape on a board . Nial a jig along the lines. Heat the PVC and place it in the jig. Drill holes
, add leaders, grip tape and your done.

If the kite is not a hard puller I have a couple sets of acrylic handles I have never used. They came with some kites I picked up a while ago. Your
welcome to a pair of them if I can dig them out of storage. But not recomended for big power pull I think.

You can make them really cheap and they work but purchased ones work better.
I made 4 pairs so far for my NPWs. The first was cut from plywood but all others were made from PVC pipe I had in the basement. Cut it, heat with a
heat gun (hot water will work) and bend ( I bent around a plywood one so they were all the same shape) drill holes, put in some stong line like 4mm
climbing line that's about 2-4 feet long. Tie a knot at the end of the lines and tie them to the handles. Many ways to do this and they all work.
You want 2 to 4 feet so you can fly the NPW tied right to the lines. That's the way I fly them most of the time.
PVC is OK for NPWs because you aren't going to be able to jump the kite or get lofted. For high powered kites I'd buy a set.
Here's a how to make them from a NPW site: http://members.cox.net/npwbill/Handles.htm

im gonna try my self at making handles im gonna try pvc aluminum and polycarbonite 1 inch thick rods im gonna use the same grip as Screwyfits

Here are the power pulley handles we use for big foils that need to turn faster.

I use double larks head knots instead of the single larks and a knot on the power line. The set at the bottom is for converting your handles to power
handles.

i dont understand shoudl i use the pullys for my 5m ace?
WELDNGOD - 2-11-2010 at 05:26 PM
Prolly not, aces don't like alot of brake input. So try to keep it minimal. A good long set should be good w/ that 5m.
