When is it right to sell a kite?

Bladerunner - 28-10-2010 at 05:15 PM

Space is not a big issue now I have the Peter Lynn KiteHoarding shed. Still I have way more kites than I have time to fly them. My 3m Blaze and 5m Ace aren't going to see any airtime in my hands.

The 3m Blaze could go with no love lost but I actually liked the 5m Ace ? At least how it flew and how it looked at 1st. It does have a little sentimental value? Part of me thinks it is only right to hold a Pansh ( that worked ) in the bag if I am going to judge the newer ones? Nothing like actually still having the kite with frayed bridles , mismatched panels, lousy lines and handles to compare ! Keeping a kite just to keep it in my Sig' seems kind of a waist at the same time?

Both of these kites would sell for so little it is hardly worth hitting the post office ?

donate to underfunded kiters, as long as they aren't complete noobs?

Teach someone to fly, someone that couldn't afford to jump in without your help. Gift them the kite with a promise to pay it forward some time.

Yeah no noobs for the Ace. But to teach a noob on the three and then suprise them by handing it to them when they know what there doing would be real cool.

Yes, I have loaned the Blaze out to a couple of people already. The ace as well.
Thing is The Blaze is such a slug neither of the people I loaned the kite to got excited about the sport? The thing I dislike about loaning the two out is that it takes away 2 line / handle sets that I would prefer to keep on my other kites.
If I gave the Blaze away kite only someone would end up buying good handles and lines for a lousy kite ?
I think I'll keep the Ace as a loaner?

We should take some time to tweak the bridle on the blaze... I think it stretched so much it won't fly right. I remember trying to fly it soon after you got it. Could be a good winter project.

You are welcome to give it a go ! I'll bring it out next time out ( tomorrow ? ) and you are welcome to it. If you could perk it up I can probably find the originl handles and some old lines . We could then feel O.K. about looking for someone worthy to give it to at GP.
If you screw it up, I truly won't mind ! So please feel free to try and work your magic! I have a Flexi AoA adjustment kit. Want to try and incorperate that ? How about trying the AoA on the Ace?

If you are going to Gp tomorrow, bring your mudskis. The lake is forming big time. Gerald was right last weekend was the last weekend.

yes, there going into hibernation.... more space to ride now winter kitesurfing, snowkiting and parties me place.

bring on the snow and wind!!! whoop whoop!

furbowski - 29-10-2010 at 08:05 PM

The flexi AoA kit won't work well on the Ace, the bridle is set up wrong. But it's easy to set up your own AoA adjusments, a few feet of spare 600# kitesurf line is what i used...

Search for "Epat" or "godoh" along with AoA and Pansh, or maybe one of the pansh forums is still up???
