That's the pretty well known Erik Eck kitemare incident. Most of us around here have seen it numerous of times. Pretty scary situation!! I think that if a person would find themselves in that situation the best one could do is to try and stay calm and focused. Having faith the the kite will set you back down if controlled correctly while keeping the kite above you at all times.

Don't know why one should be banned for posting a link to a youtube video relating to a kitemare. At the time Eck wasn't being irresponsible, it just shows what can happen in the blink of an eye no matter how careful you are being.

Can't believe people are still arguing over this bit of ancient history!

If memory serves ( & seldom does ) Eric WAS in fact being responsible, it's called wind! It's unpredictable & stuff happens! All we can hope for is a good ride thank mother nature when we do get one & keep our @$$ prepared!

That means, mentally & physically,
( YES that's a blatant knock to those that think impaired kiting is cool, be it alcohol or other substances! & if you don't don't like it :moon:! )
checking conditions & gear, wearing safety equipment, helmets pfd's etcetera-

Did I just paint a target on my back? I really couldn't give a
----!

Perhaps if enough debate & hot air is raised over this it will generate some use able wind? --- Hmm that said it's a wonder more Politicians don't buggy:P
They can make there own WIND!
