What to invest. Need input

shaggs2riches - 30-10-2010 at 10:22 AM

Its still a long ways away now but already shopping around for kite and gear purchases when I get my tax return in march, and need some input on ideas here. Will probably change my mind hundred times till then but anyway here it is.

Thinking about my water activities I was thinking of investing in a 19m SA2 to match the incoming 12; but, at the same time wondered what the benefits of getting a flydoor instead. The bigger kite would also be a huge benefit to my land riding time.

I'm also thinking of maybe investing in a Bigfoot upgrade Kit for the bug so that I can actually ride it at the open beach.

There's also the idea of investing in a 15meter Syn or if the Phantom II is in production by then.

Many choices and like I said will probably change my mind tons till then. Wish I could get everything and be done with it. Just looking for some input.

Thanks
Shaggs

the kite quiver never ends .... hehehe.

the FS 19 would go well with your 12, and would cover your range for both water and land kiteboarding

if you're looking to sell your SYN 10, i have a buyer if we can agree on a price

ask Kami or Dylan about the doors, its the ultimate light wind board - IMO
FS 19 + Door = who needs wind or hooj airtime

if you bought a SYN 15, i'd think your Scrop would be in the backseat more. the Phanny II would fit well with your BF Buggy conversion.

I love my syn used it the most this summer amazes me how much grunt it has. I will be hanging on to it as a high winds weapon on the water once I can build some skills. I was thinking of replacing the scorp with the 15 syn but might hang on to it as a backup. I'm trying to get my brother into kiting as he would be killer on the board if he learned the kite skills; if, he does get into it I know he won't be able to fund gear for a while so I would let him use it. Seems crazy but in a way I just want to have a huge quiver so I can always have something different to fly. Does that make me crazy????:puzzled:

Not crazy at all.

I am very happy I can go to either my 10 - 15m Charger combo or my 460 - 15m Syn combo. I can loan out one set or the other and still be covered. Having the right gear is worth it but having a buddy to kite with ..... PRICELESS !!!! :spin:

The SA is a big budget killer ? If you considered a large open cell FB or kitesurfer XXL you could save almost $1,000 to spend on your other items on the wish list. The XXL would work on water? Open cell still gets you out early on land and snow?

Thanks Rip' but I already tried to pry the 10m out of Shags' hands !

My Flydoor XL is an AWESOME board - thanks again Ric!
I use it 99.9% of the time, even out in the massive wind we've had erm three times now :D it's a little heavier than my 2007 Spleene Door was but then, the Spleene broke :D

I'm 130kg at the moment but when the wind has been light, I've been the ONLY person riding - yes I'm including Grandad who weighs 50kg and borrows Miyachi's 14m kites to ride a 150x50 board ... he's walking, the kites falling out of the sky and I'm riding upwind doing little jumps.

Hooj jumps on an XL? Oh hell yes! The last 3 or so sessions I've had I've been well powered and jumping like a nutter ... the board stayed on my feet but it's easy to swing around! Those were on the 'bow and the Syn19 but now I know how to do it, I'll try the SA2 when it gets back ...

Board or kite? Get both :D

Shaggs,
Seems as though you "need" my 19Speed2 SA.
all the usual nice things to say...it has no rips/repairs, it's very lightly used (i bought it from an LEI boarder who bought it to try out foils. he did not like it) it has FDS installed.
1400CAD it's yours come and get it.

The 19m SA2 sounds to be my next purchase as of right now. I won't be able to invest in a Door and a kite as I'm also going to be buying a GoPro HD. Really want to get in a good year next summer as it seemed that whenever I was able to ride this past summer the wind wasn't good enough to justify going to the beach.

I gathered a collection of FS kites to eventually use on water but after a broken ankle I've decided "stand up styles" of kiting is not for me. Buggying is cool but Landsailer kicks butt on buggying so I don't need/want any of my kite gear. I want another Landsailer. I bought the SA late last summer and did not even use it for skiing (bust/healing ankle) in winter. It's only been used a couple times with my buggy, once with ATB and a few static sessions.
You'll be hard pressed to get "skunked" with the 19m SA2.
After I first bought it (on the way home from Post Offfice) there was less than 4mp/h. I unrolled it anyways and did some decent pendulums.
A week later when my brother came back from vacation and hadn't seen it yet so we took it out with even less wind. the leaves on the trees were not even at steady flicker. I did not even put a harness on until i tried launching it and was surprised to find it was actually going to launch. I put on a harness and did some pendulums.

I would love to take that off your hands, but I just blew my fall budget on the 12m speed 2 and a new harness. If you still have it come tax time I will take it off your hands for sure.

I haven't listed anything. I just sold the Peter Lynn XR today to a person I met at Geekfest who wanted to buy it, but I never mentioned it was for sale. I don't plan on listing stuff. So I'm thinking I'll still have plenty of stuff in the new year.
