So we have a new addition to Jekyll Island in the form of a large set being built to film portions of the latest X Men movie. It is just north of
Kite Beach and the Jekyll Island Pavilion. There is a chain link fence closing it off for now and it is worth mentioning because it extends down to
the beach and at incoming tides really chokes off that section for kiting. You could fly the kite over the fence but it is the type that would
shred ripstop if you hit it. Low tides still leave room to get by though.
So far i see them doing lots of landscaping and hauling in lots of palm trees. I'll get pics when its worth it.
Filming (here) is expected to finish by Christmas.pokitetrash - 3-11-2010 at 10:54 AM
Angus, keep buggying back and forth while they're out there shooting and you might get a cameo.. Maybe you can be part of an action sequence --you can be the "guy on street" that yells "Hey!!" when the street
chase actors knock into you....rocfighter - 3-11-2010 at 11:15 AM
Maybe you can hit Wolverine with your buggy and in respect for the great Dustin Hoffman he will yell "Hey I'm walS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-n here" Now that
would be cool.rocfighter - 3-11-2010 at 11:17 AM
Or he might shoot out his knivey clawey things and chop you into ribbons. AND THAT WOULD BE COOL TOO . Just not for youDHKITE - 3-11-2010 at 11:54 AM

Funny set, this is. Huge plywood facades all over the place, some covered with plastic vegetation, some painted to be the mountains of Cuba as a
backdrop. Filming starts after Dec. 1 with Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt and some regular Xmen series chick I don't know (don't know the series). We'll
have to rent the films. this is apparently a pre-quel that they are filming.shaggs2riches - 14-11-2010 at 07:48 PM
Must be another X-Men Origins like Wolverine wasrocfighter - 15-11-2010 at 04:22 AM

We walked the dogs on Jekyll yesterday and checked out the set.
Just so you know, previously there were maybe three palm trees along this entire stretch of beach....
Edit: Having trouble with links...bigkid - 29-11-2010 at 09:03 AM
I was doing work in Roslyn, WA during the filming of Northern Exposure, and life was not easy. Couldn't work in town during filming, or if I did, I
could only work between takes, I got to hate that whistle. Real fun sitting on the roof of Ruth Anns store(Central Sundries) in the snow trying to
reroof it.
Are they going to stop any Kite activities during the making of the movie?acampbell - 29-11-2010 at 09:10 AM
