How about a little feedback from the Bash.

Todd - 16-11-2010 at 05:19 AM

Please voice your likes/dislikes about the Wildwood Buggy Bash. What could we do to make it a better experience for you? Large plans are in the works for spring so please voice your opinion on what you would like to see or not see.

Thank you!

No comments about the cook OR ELSE!

It sucked, I hated it, and I'm never coming back :flaming::mad::flaming:

:lol::evil:

Kidding of course. The Bash was excellent. The Shalimar was a bit nicer than the Apollo, but I doubt we can get those good prices for spring... Next time though make sure that when you place the order for the wind, that you get ON shore wind. That off shore wind was harsh some times.

pokitetrash - 16-11-2010 at 07:13 AM

I had an awesome time! The Shalimar was fine, although I could have done without the S.O.S pad-size pube ball in the bathtub... Oh wait, that came from Frankiter!

Really though, it was well planned and meeting everyone was great.

cheezycheese - 16-11-2010 at 08:20 AM

Ditto... Loved the Shalimar. Wouldn't mind kicking up a few bucks to have a cook for the whole event. Maybe a registration fee of sorts so every one gets at least a shirt and we don't have to eat crap food the whole weekend. Plus try and cover the insurance that way as well.
Just a thought... :dunno:

Re: the cooking, I know I really have no say, not having been there, but I intended to bring a pork shoulder that I had slow smoke roasted, then cooked down into pulled pork, about 7# finished, I think with rolls and corn or taters, it would have fed everyone. I ate pork for a week, and still have 4# in the freezer! What I'm getting at is everyone has a special dish, we should(assuming I get there in the spring)plan on doing it family style. I'll do another shoulder(I can also do passable italian) and everyone can vol. to bring something! Have a separate thread to keep track of the menu, who's bringing what, etc. Idea's, comments?

Personally, I'd prefer not to have to pay for the event.

Shalimar was great. No Wildwood spiders in my room:D. The idea of a bbq every night would be great and people can do what they want for breakfast and lunch. I'd have a tendancy to guess that it would get too expensive to be feasable though. The Saturday night bbq we had was a nice unexpected treat. After 12 hours of giving buggy rides non stop with no food I wasn't going to make it to a restaurant before I starved. Many thanks to Todd, Rian, Rich, Mike and his wife, Kelly, and so many others that contributed to a great bbq. My stomach thanks you:D. My only complaint was the same as Mavens.........someone botched up the order for nice onshore winds. Hopefully the schedule works out to see you all in the spring:thumbup:

Good winds
Dean

I think cheesey has the right idea- registration fee to cover the insurance as well as maybe a tee shirt- but i think the insurance is paramount since the idea is to get it "fully sanctioned" with the town/city as well. I think Jibe was like $20.00 and included a shirt. Having promoted mountain bike races in the past, a nominal registration fee is pretty standard to cover the costs for those guys putting it all together. You dont make any money at it (not the idea) but definitely helps keep track of everything especially since I dont think that the insurance can be; nor should be optional. My 2 cents, just disappointed i missed this fall

frankiter - 16-11-2010 at 10:35 AM

Pokite, just for that remark, no more cookies for you!

Wait a minute, scratch that....... Next time I'll save you the special cookies with the bathtub inspired ingredient.

You guys are right on the money with this one and it has already been planned to have a registration to cover theses key items. I like Bob’s idea of a menu each night for possibly Thursday and Friday then BBQ for Saturday. Early participants showing up Tuesday and Wednesday fend for themselves. Very good input going on here.

How about planned events such as a race? I know it’s hard to not just hop in a buggy/blokart and blast up and down the beach but for those who want to test their skills with others might be up for this. Not that there's a 'hidden' agenda going with this

I think that "Aunt B's" chocolate chip cookies will be a staple for next bash. Dont mess with B's cookies....

kteguru - 16-11-2010 at 02:13 PM

Thank you Aunt B!!:D

shehatesmyhobbies - 16-11-2010 at 04:08 PM

Aunt B's cookies were great, and I thought that hamburger tasted a little funny!;)

I really like the idea of a little race or something of the sort, like a keyhole, match ups for sure. It doesn't require the entire beach, we can pick a section, set it up and let it rip!

There has been a lot of smack talk! Time to show what you got! (keeping it fun of course!)

Pot luck the first couple of nights sounds yummy! Big time BBQ on Sat night of course! Bigger and better!

bigben91682 - 16-11-2010 at 04:33 PM

This year was great, one little thing that I like a LOT was the name tags, thanks Dean for those, I'm awful with names and it was really helpful to see both actual name and screen name.

I liked the Shalimar better than the Apollo, both the hotel and the beach location. felt like there was a lot more room on the beach.

I have no problem paying a small registration fee, shirt or not, and the BBQ was awesome so I'm happy to chip in for that.

doneski - 16-11-2010 at 04:43 PM

I can't tell you how excited I was when I heard bobalooie was bringing a pork shoulder and how bummed out I was when i learned he wasn't.

I liked the hotel so no need to change that. I don't think we need a chef but that's because Brian did our cooking.

I've got no problem paying a registration fee or chipping in for the cookout. It would be nice if we could pull the grills onto the beach.

Todd - 16-11-2010 at 04:56 PM

Thanks for the responses, great ideas coming out here.

rocfighter - 16-11-2010 at 05:42 PM

I agree with a small fee for each to cover things such as insurance and maybe even the BBQ.
And speaking of the BBQ Todd The Kidd was excited that you asked him to help with the cooking in the spring.
We realy liked the Tshirts and hoodies. I wear mine a lot.

Good deal Dave, tell him to get his game face on because I'm making him LEAD CHEF! Thats right, no pressure and we will sit back to assist in every way... all we need are his orders.

rocfighter - 17-11-2010 at 06:28 AM

Ok Todd good luck with that!! :bigok:
I'll have him practice all winter!

Lee - 18-11-2010 at 02:23 PM
