Wind was WNW @ 20-30 yesterday, so off to the beach I went! Amazing day, I found out how easy it is to take lots of video with a helmet cam, and how
hard it is to edit it all into something watchable. Hat's off to Todd, for being so good at it. Anyway, this is the first portion of the day, and
what a day it was. More to follow! thanson2001ok - 21-11-2010 at 07:40 AM
Nice work! I want that beach!bobalooie57 - 21-11-2010 at 07:48 AM
The easternmost shore of my great lake, Ontario! With a west wind, it's on! Wait 'til you see the next one, if I can get movie maker to
recover from the last. There's 4 guys out on the water in that chop, doing a downwinder from Black Pond to Sandy Pond. Prolly 45 min to an hour by
car, they could do it in 20-25 in today's wind, but they will stop to play all the way down. BTW, Mike(Sandy Island) I found Joe's Ocean Rodeo cap on
the beach, if you read this send me your addy, and I'll send it along, otherwise see ya on the snow. I caught a little of them on vid, still need to
edit that part. Air temp was 43 deg. F, water temp, maybe 45? They were wearing dry suits.shehatesmyhobbies - 21-11-2010 at 08:33 AM
Looks like a great place to fly Bob! Thanks for sharing the video!
Love the wind farm!Todd - 21-11-2010 at 08:56 AM
That was an awesome job Bob! Thank you for sharing... nice buggy spot too.Chad - 21-11-2010 at 09:47 AM
Nice Video Bob. Thx for sharing.
Question, When riding in the water how do you protect aginst RUST? or how often do you replace your bearings?
serious question???
Thxripsessionkites - 21-11-2010 at 10:31 AM
nice video, im jealous!!!
just curious and an observation but are you fighting the kite a lot? i noticed stalling so my only suggestion is to shorten your Power Leaders by 2
inches since you hold your handles under the Power Leader.
sorry for the knit pickingbobalooie57 - 21-11-2010 at 10:59 AM
Yeah Ricky, wind was a little too north for an easy ride up the beach, especially with the 2M.(it's on those 17.5M Vector lines I got from you) Maybe
a 3 would have been easier(haven't got one, my 3.5 is on 20M lines, too close to the trees) I know in my next vid you'll see that my 2.4M NPW gets it
done headed north a little easier, even though its on really short(30' or so) lines. It's uploading/processing now. In it I caught some guys out on
the lake in the chop flying GK tubes, and catching massive air! In November! (Dry suits, obviously)Will add some Knots in my leaders per your
suggestion, though, and give it a try next time. Since the lake is fresh water, I really haven't worried about rusting, haven't replaced my bearings
yet, got the buggy used a year and a half ago. Still works good!:bigok:bobalooie57 - 21-11-2010 at 01:07 PM
Flirtin with disaster
As promised, here's my second vid for the weekend, same spot, different kite, the 2.4M NPW by HQ(too bad they don't make these anymore. Any left in a
warehouse somewhere, I'll buy 'em) I can't believe it's mid November and the boyz were out on the lake in the chop(small craft advisory in effect)
catching 30-40+feet of air! It might still be processing, but should finish soon. Enjoy! cheezycheese - 21-11-2010 at 06:53 PM
On shore winds and an empty beach - jeez some guys have all the luck !!! Good for you Bob. kteguru - 21-11-2010 at 07:00 PM
Your banging out vids like Todd now Bobalooie. Looks like a great
spot!bobalooie57 - 21-11-2010 at 10:30 PM
Thanks for all the nice comments. Not quite up to Todd's standards, but each
time I use moviemaker, I get a little more familiar with it. Unfortunately, it seems that every time I use it, it gets slower. Is there something
I'm doing wrong,(or not doing right?)?
@cheezy, 4.5 - 5 hr. drive and the beach wouldn't be so empty! Too far for a day trip, I know. The NJ/DC crew are talkin about coming up around New
Years, if we have snow by then. You gonna try snowkiting this season? After seeing them out on the Lake yesterday, getting all that air, made me
want to try the water sometime, but with some of the boosts I saw, my drysuit would prolly been kinda wet inside, if you know what I mean.cheezycheese - 21-11-2010 at 11:46 PM
yeah Bob it is on the list of kite related travel this year. hopefully MLK weekend so i can bring the kids. snowkiting is a definite MAYBE, i have all
the gear wanna take a ski lesson first. definitely want some blades for the buggy though...rocfighter - 22-11-2010 at 09:46 AM
Bob the only problem with the first video is I'm not sure it was you. The handles need to be green too and then we will be sure!!
Very good stuff I enjoyed watching it.
