It is time to focus on expanding the PKF to cover new issues in kite traction sports. If you can think of a category of topics that would improve this
forum, please suggest it here. It should be a category that does not overlap the current categories and is of importance to power kiting worldwide.
Each suggestion will be considered. Thanks!

Videos and Photos as a main category.
Forums:
Videos
Photos
Equipment, Tips, and Techniques
Used Gear For Sale
It may be bandwidth intensive, but it's always popular in other forums.

Good idea Dave, thanks.
We'll take all suggetions into consideration.
Anyone have more ideas?

How bout a "How to Get Started" catergory. That question sure comes up a lot and perhaps if it were a main catergory with each aspect a sub, it would
be easy enough for newbies to find that info without it having to be asked each week.

Another good one! Keem 'em coming.
How about safety issues, any interest in this as a topic category?

How about kites reviews, in fact not only kites review but review any type
of equipment that is linked to the traction sports?

Thanks, however we have this. A section for land and for water kites (though the water kites is still awaiting posts). Both of these categories have
been surprisingly weak considering the degree of diversity there is in the kite market.

How 'bout a section on Maintenance. I do not know about everyone else, but I do not know how nor have the tools to fix what ever breaks. Do I really
have to know how to weld?

How about something I consider in any new sport that takes up alot of space has to share ground with the public: "Rules and Ethics" We don't want
to make the mistake that moutain bikers did a decade ago, when through lack of knowledge or arrogance, they managed "piss off" enough people that many
trails were permanently closed to it.
To Kiters/Buggiers/Boarders who only use dry lake beds, this may not be relevant, but to those of us who play on the public beaches, its a BIG issue!
By the way, Great site so far! Thanks.

How about a "Resources" or "Odd parts" section for a centralized place for all those links to oddball shops for bolts, tires, bearings, etc.
It would be nice to have a centralized place to look.

Or a modification/custom/fabrication section for tips techniques and discussions on how to make your own stuff.
This appears from time to time in other categories, but it'd be nice to have a central location for it.
I for one am normally too anal to buy anything I think I can make, mostly because I enjoy designing and making things. An I know I'm not the only one
out there.

One thing I'd love for functionality is a way to subscribe to an entire section, so that I get e-mails letting me know I should stop all work and go
read a post! I know you can subscribe to individual threads, but I normally just
go to Today's Posts and see what's new.
Or alternately, maybe a way from Today's Posts to step back to Yesterday's posts, etc.
Not sure if you have this level of control over the site functionality, but thought I'd request it all the same!

Thanks for the suggestions! All are considered.
Regarding links... try our links page here. This is an expanding list of kite shops and resources. Suggest a link by sending a U2U to PKF.

How about a "stories" section. I know we all have anecdotes of things we did or saw, either cautionary, funny, or whatever. I always enjoy reading
things like that.
doomwheels - 29-5-2006 at 11:24 PM
Currently that's what the buggy camp/ kite beach section is for... any social or mixed topic posts. We'll consider your suggestion as a separate
category. Thanks.

I don't know how many catagory's you want, if you have too many, people will start skipping over ones that aren't relevant to them. The only times
it's really worth while to split things up is when theres just too much info and threads going through one area.
Perfect example is at our local forum, there's a surf and buggy section, but almost no one checks the buggy section, A lot of the surfers are
interested in heading out to see what we're up to but don't bother looking in the land section. For any major GTG's I have to put a seperate post up
in their area to get their attention.
We've added several sections only to take them away because they were only getting a couple posts a week as well.

Good point. This is why we're taking a minimalistic approach to new categories. We want to make sure we cover all the bases of power kiting sports
without spreading things too thin. But we also want to listen to the members as many helpful ideas have come from user feedback. That's what makes
this forum great. Keep 'em coming!
