15m Syn -$225 shipped US 48- U fix it

lad - 22-11-2010 at 05:28 PM

My great, 'sure thing' job offer fell through last month. And I got two 15m Arcs here. So, It's either sell this as is now, or repair it myself by selling my beloved 15m Phanny. (Maybe I'd like the Syn more than the P, but I never got a chance to fly it much. I was hoping to get out on the water this past summer, but it was not to be. But it someone wants to make me a ridiculously great offer on the 15 P, I won't stop them).

This had some pro, lifetime guaranteed repairs from the previous owner and looked and flew great. I unwisely flew it in the unpredictable inland winds and it went into bushes. It seems to have a couple tears on the flyer-side white ripstop, and a smaller tear near a bridal. I'm hoping it can be repaired for like $150 or under? But I didn't get an estimate.

I can send it to you, as is, for less than half my cost. I also have an older, used '04 bar and lines I can throw in for another $50.

Fixmykite.com repair on that will be about $50....................I blew out 2 cell walls and adjoining leading edge on my 15m Syn (cummulative damage over 80 inches) and the repair cost was $65.............................kite flew like new once I got her back

I'd think you could make it fly again with just repair tape. Try it. Could cost you $20. Those don't look bad from the pictures. If you just wanna move it, I might be interested. Gotta talk to my accountant (wife).

You're as bad as me. You already have a 15 Synergy too! I agree that those tears might repair with some ripstop tape inside and out. Probably couldn't detect it in flight.

true but for another $25 youve got a lifetime repair from a guy who was in on the ground floor with Quadrifoil, Flysurfer, and Im thinking PL as well....he does awesome work!! You should know BB after I trashed your 15

tridude - 22-11-2010 at 06:48 PM

I can't let you take credit for that. I was driving when that happened. That kite was hurt BAD and you can't tell it from new now after a visit to fixmykite. And I got an inflate zipper in the end as well.

To get back on topic, these tears shouldn't be an issue at all and are probably worth a professional repair for a good as new kite.

bobalooie57 - 23-11-2010 at 10:37 AM

 I can see the flies on the binjo ditch, but I didn't think any self respecting fly would dare to eat kimchee!

I was in Pusan, in the 80's, at a communications site at K-9 airport(K-9=the dawgs!)

Sorry guys...I'm finally checking back in...it's like I put up a sign saying "FREE BEER" outside a Frat house!

Well, I've been persuaded (offline) to try to get it fixed instead...not saying I won't offer it up in the future...and until I get another try at it, I'll prob. hang onto the Phanny for now.

But...unless my fortunes change, I will prob. let one of them go after they each have a buggy face off at the beach...(hmmm....more power vs. more upwind)

I've never flown a Synergy so feel free to call me uninformed, but I say MORE UPWIND. It's about quality not quantity.

I have 15s in both the Synergy and Phantom and its really hard to choose. Upwind on the syn is nothing to sneeze at. It has more grunt than the Phanny and the Phanny is less twitchy if you could say the syn is twitchy, but they are both great with a different feel.

Feyd - 24-11-2010 at 05:38 AM

The Syn's turn rate smokes the Phanny tho.

If you have to sell the Phanny at some point there seems no lack of Phanny junkies here waiting to get a fix.

Good luck with the Syn, I'm sure she'll be awesome.
