ripsessionkites - 30-11-2010 at 02:29 PM

LOL!!!

not to start a debate, but you see the KK DID NOT work.

back to drinking!!!

sTEPSIDe - 30-11-2010 at 02:45 PM

I've always thought that would be the out come... Didnt think the slingshot effect would have been so dramatic though.

flyjump - 30-11-2010 at 02:47 PM

Holy balls!!!!!!

Depends on the elasticity of the rope, but you will get recoil from any tensioned line that separates.

That was awful...

@ rip I'm pretty sure the elastic parted ... like it is supposed to. Why do you think it is elastic and not leader line? Under extreme load they WILL part. I have several broken elastics. And I'm pretty sure they(KKs) were not intended for you to" man lift" with, so that was never a consideration in design.
If I take a kayak up on a snow covered hill and slide down hill and crash into a tree, it is not the paddles fault cause it did not work properly.

InvertedForce - 30-11-2010 at 03:10 PM

Note to self: don't try this at home.

geokite - 30-11-2010 at 03:31 PM

Cheddarhead - 30-11-2010 at 04:45 PM

Another example of "Natural Selection"

flyjump - 30-11-2010 at 05:09 PM

It doesn't take a doctor to see that his arm is broken in the last few frames. That was terrible but I can't stop watching it

WELDNGOD - 30-11-2010 at 05:18 PM

I just dont get why people think this is a good idea...

" I can't get lifted anymore than 25 ft." as they tie 40ft of rope to themselves...
"
"hey Ya'll watch this.."

Seanny - 30-11-2010 at 05:18 PM

Carl's Youtube comment says it all :thumbup:

Cheers,

Dumba$$. This is how people die. His ribs and spine may never heal completely. If this happened again, his bone structure would likely crumple, and he'd pancake. Nice work, dude. No not really.

Kamikuza - 30-11-2010 at 05:26 PM

Idiot :eekdrull:

WELDNGOD - 30-11-2010 at 05:37 PM

AND THIS YRS. DARWIN AWARD GOES TO..........

HERE'S YOUR SIGN:thumbdown:

kteguru - 30-11-2010 at 06:17 PM

It would have been much cooler if he used his shoelaces as a strop so he could have boosted at least double that and died in the end:crazy:. I think we can blame hospitals for these occurances........if it wasn't for those life saving morons natural selection would work and twits like these wouldn't get the chance to reproduce. He should have tried flapping his arms:Ange09::Ange09:

Bladerunner - 30-11-2010 at 06:42 PM

What is the sad truth is every single one of us has thought about doing something like this ? Most of us have thought better of the idea.

There are so many ways to do this safer if you have to do it at all ! THAT is what makes it truly moronic.

WELDNGOD - 30-11-2010 at 06:47 PM

Uh, NO ,not even in a drunken stupor.....

kteguru - 30-11-2010 at 06:53 PM

This is why punctuated equilibrium is a far more resonable idea than natural selection. If natural selection worked pinheads like that kid simply would not exist.

flyjump - 30-11-2010 at 07:01 PM

daaaaaaaang, i cannot stop watching this. why did he think he could hold on? if he knew it would lift him, dont you think he'd realize that he was gonna generate a crapton of power? that dude is lucky to be alive

kteguru - 30-11-2010 at 07:06 PM

I'm guessing if his lines are the standard 440/220 then his grip is somewhere less than that:lol:

Kamikuza - 30-11-2010 at 08:36 PM

Best thing is - the British tax payers are keeping numpties like that alive. Sometimes, socialized medicine is a bad thing.

This Is the quote of the day ...

Too bad for the kid.

UnescortedCloud - 30-11-2010 at 10:10 PM

HOOOOLY CRAP!!!

Kamikuza - 30-11-2010 at 11:55 PM

I think what Rip meant was to stir some poo-poo's by implying that the KKs didn't do their job cos they didn't keep the kite attached to the rider and flagged :)

It's entirely possible numbnuts didn't set them up right ;) user error - fancy that

The DIY crossover bar I made ... I was using an old Wipika leash. First time I dumped the Rebble to safety by way of test when it was loaded, the kite kaBOINGed downwind and the leash ripped apart ... RUN fat-ass RUN! Quick before it hits the HT power lines! :o
There was nothing inside the sleeve but a bungy. The Mystic leash I pulled apart, on the other hand, had like 2mm Dyneema line end to end and the bungy ...

acartier1981 - 1-12-2010 at 03:42 PM

Wow, did she really have to call an ambulance???

Yes. :P

WELDNGOD - 1-12-2010 at 04:34 PM

kami,I have had my handles snatched out of my hand so hard it stung my fingertips. It also broke the elastics on KS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s. They are only so good, not built for the power of the kite going one way and you ROCKETING the other. If ya look they flagged the kite right as he shot backwards. If the rope had not snatched him like that the kite would have flagged, and he would have dropped like a rock. I'm thinkin that would have been better. maybe.... Then you have a point about him being idiot. No telling how he rigged the elastics to his handleset.

Kamikuza - 1-12-2010 at 05:04 PM

Like I said ... stirring feces ;)

That girl should be told that her "baby" as she refers to him is an idiot.

This reminds me of the new motorcycle rider that buys a 1000cc bike sportbike and brags that it is not fast enough....only a matter of time.

g-force junkie - 1-12-2010 at 05:42 PM

hey guys, there is a guy over on kiteforum that wants to anchor himself with a big kite, maybe carltb could post that vid link over there as it may save this guys life cuz he just doesn't seem to get it.
