... probably shouldn't say this but ... I once got inside an unused water wheel with a buddy to balance it out and someone spun it. Did you know those bearings are nearly frictionless? I didn't

Alway a good idea to tie yourself to the ground but not the kite. Can you say slingshot effect?
Kami where you a kid when you did this( under 21)? if not your in the running!!:bigok:

They deleted the second I guess we'll never know.

The girlfriend running up to her fallen, brainless beau, camcorder still running in hand, Cloverfield style, seemed a little contrived...? :piggy:

Kamikuza - 4-12-2010 at 06:49 PM

Would have been close - 19 maybe??

shaggs2riches - 4-12-2010 at 08:52 PM

Now if those two had harnesses rigged to keep them inside that merry-go-round they probably could have been turned faster. Imagine the G-Forces at that speed:o Not only that but at that speed you would have had to hold your head straight IMO cuz I'm sure that letting it get snapped backwards wouldn't have been very safe. Should have made the guy who stayed in get up and try to run in a straight line:lol:

My dad built a thing he called the "whirly gig" it was a long plank mounted in the center to an axel cemented into the ground. One day he decided to mount a model airplane motor on one end and I as always vollunteered to be the test pilot on the other end. It ran out of gas about the same time I changed my scream from "its too fast its to fast" to "I cant hold on I cant hold on." Just one of the many times I've dodged the Darwin award.

We had handpowered things like that - we called them "Chunder Machines" ... you sat on a seat and spun yourself by pulling on the wheel in the center. The older we got, the faster we could make it go ...

 at snowspider ...!

bobalooie57 - 5-12-2010 at 07:03 AM

@ snowspider, Now I understand where you get your build it yourself gene from!
@ kamikuza, we had those too, I forget what we called them, prolly just whirlygig, My older brother would always promise to go slow, but never kept that promise!:spin:

Did you get fooled by the Hi-Tec water-walking commercial too? they don't get much faker than this.

FreddieW(the asian guy) is becoming a rather well-known VisualEFX person, I'm surprised you have not seen one of his videos before. He does really pretty amazing work with simple digital tools, check some of his videos out!
