Rode a Tube and Liked it

I have been flying FS Pulse2 and outlaws and I begged a ride with a SSt3. I liked it. I liked the amount of De-power and how it felt powered up. Easy relaunch and easy to land.

That is all

I know the feeling. I love the foils but I was out sat in 10mph-28mph with a SSTurboDiesel10....real nice kite.

TUBEHEADS! Just kidding. I need to try one next time I'm on the same beach as tridude.

Yeah they're nice when they're in their sweet spot but, and it may just be my Crossbows, but that sweet spot seems awful narrow when compared to my SA2 or the Synergys ... horses for courses I guess. Much less chance of tangling up a tube when trying silly jumps though :D

I wanna try one one of these days but the other week while out snowkiting with my buddy he had the exact reason that scares me of them happen. It twisted through the bridal somehow and got stuck in a loop and it wouldn't stay down even after he had pulled the safety. It was dragging him towards some power lines though I managed to get to the kite in plenty of time. I don't really have any idea how often that happens but the whole "loaded gun" analogy about tubes makes me very cautious of them.

The tube got wrapped through the bridle? That is the time to just let the whole lot go - release the safety leash and wave bye-bye ...

Yeh, you didn't have to pump it up did you :smug: LOL. I tried a 10m LEI (don't remember the brand) and it was quite the ride. Quite abit different than what I'm used to. Took me for a pretty good hop before I knew what hit me! But then, I'm pretty much a greenhorn.
Oh, my friend was setting it up for my benefit, so I took part in the joy of pumping it up. Can you spell.....time for a siesta!!! But my real bottom line is when I get to the point of kiteboarding, I will be in the market for the dreaded inflato.

I have pumped up kites many many times. I was on the original 2 line wipika....No pumps back then.

Kamikuza - 14-12-2010 at 10:56 PM

Oh the hand pump things - yeah I remember them! :shocked2: pumping ain't that bad and I doubt any of the kites you're talking about have the volume of my 16m's

Right tool for the job  LEIs are stable enough in the sky and of course rigid, so I can play silly buggers and not worry about tangles, twists etc. But they don't have the bottom end range of the Speed2 - not by a long shot! And they don't have the stability and smoothness of an arc in the strong, gusty stuff. Well, at least, none of the LEIs I've used have ...
