Sitting here, with a new harness and new board under the Christmas tree.

"Mom, can I go kiting?"

"No Sean, you have to wait until Christmas!"

But it'll be so much sweater if you wait! And just think - I had to wait like 20 years for this sport to be mainstream enough that I could afford the gear

Build a fake ATB outta cardboard and wrap it in the same wrapping paper as your real board, and put it under the tree. Take your real board, unwrap it, and go ride (preferably away from your parents).. Xmas eve, just rewrap the real board and swap again and be sure to act mega stoked. Cry, if possible.

Hahaha! Well, since I already unboxed it from the package it was sent it, then cleaned it and put it together... my parents don't even know how to wrap it. We still have the original box, and I asked my mom if she wanted me to disassemble it for boxing, and she said no? That is a great plan though! I don't think I'm smooth enough to pull it off, however

EDIT: If I'm going to wrap a fake board, why bother making the fake board in the first place? Might as well put some rocks in a box and wrap those :D But then what do I do with the wrapped rocks/fake board once I have a wrapped real board? :o

And Kami, I still can't afford this stuff! Empathy for an unemployed inspired broke teen?

some of us are old enough to remember when the only kites out there were cheap diamond kites--back then they were a blast-kites sure have come a long way since then!!

About 45 years ago I made my 1st power kite . it was cheap!

I tied a beach towel around my waist then would open it and get tossed over by the wind I was so tiny. The seed was set way back then !

I had to wait about 40 more years to afford my 1st REAL power kite. $1,000 used for the 1st one ! Got $100 back when I sold it though ! :ticking:

We used an umbrella as a kite once. That actually flew, believe it or not

I still have my first kites ... my DIY stunt kite is in a box somewhere in NZ and my Rebble still gets used often.

At a festival there was epic winds and we couldn't safely fly any kites. So we bridled up a big cardboard box and had a blast with it!

Seanny - 22-12-2010 at 12:03 PM

You should have pulled apart another box and taped it to your feet. Then you'd have a cardboard landboard :D

WELDNGOD - 22-12-2010 at 12:12 PM

and if ya sit on it ,it's a buggy!:lol:

Seanny - 22-12-2010 at 12:22 PM

In that case, I've been "buggying" since I was about, eh, 4? :D Haven't we all. Sit on a cardboard box and take that sucker down a hill, you've got your day cut out for you. :wee:

Seanny - Hang tough bro....25th will be here before you know it. I'll be in Dallas 9-15 Jan if you're up that way. I'm thinking of bringing my 3.5 Rush just to static fly. I only have evenings off due to training so not much "Lighted" free time.

Seanny - 22-12-2010 at 04:38 PM

Awesome! Oh, that reminds me... I'm going to Big Bend! :D Not sure exactly when, but sometime next week... I'm stoked! Can you say OPEN SPACE?!
