kteguru - 6-1-2011 at 09:27 PM

Here's the link for this year http://www.stormboarding.com/kitestorm2011.html
I don't know what its been doing in Vermont but we've already been out on the lakes here in NH.

See you at Kitestorm :wee:

Feyd - 7-1-2011 at 05:56 AM

Hey steph,

Kitestorm is definately on this year. Glad you're comming down.

Right now the ice on the south side of the Sandbar causeway is good but it has no snow on it. We're all in the same snow hole this year. At least we have ice.

Do you have any riding at all up there?

stephdip - 7-1-2011 at 02:04 PM

thanks for the info guys :singing:
will definatly try and make it out for this year ans atsy over to max out the fun !!

nah !!! we almost got a green christmas and the little snow we did get wasn't enough to give cover in the field.
all we got was 5 cm and way to scatered to hide all the dirt :(

some brave guys were on the ice in a few bay ereas but it's thin and im just not that brave:no:
then we got that warm spell for the new year and that melted the little we did have.

today a wooping 5 cm and total of 8 cm by tomorow !!!!! maybe with some luck it will be just enough to get an edge..

what ever happened to winter from november to april

hope to see you guys in vt

Todd - 10-1-2011 at 11:02 AM

OK, Room booked at the Best Western for this... SheHatesMyHobbies and I will be making the trek northward.

bobalooie57 - 10-1-2011 at 11:05 AM

Skates on buggy's???

shehatesmyhobbies - 10-1-2011 at 11:05 AM

WHOOP!!!:wee: Let the good times roll!

Todd - 10-1-2011 at 11:12 AM

I have a similar setup as Dean, Bob. Will you be there?

bobalooie57 - 10-1-2011 at 11:44 AM

Now I should def. try and make it. We've kicked the idea around, but mostly the consensus is if conditions are good here, stay here. I've also got issues with a very old house which needs some TLC, but I can hardly stay ahead of the oilman this winter, I shudder to think what's going on with the fixed income folks. So the easy answer is I'm going to try to make it this year, I've never been there, and it is closer than Wildwood. (But ice is hard, and you see how easy I fall back on my bum.) I could try to ride the barrows there though!:ticking:

vtliter - 14-1-2011 at 07:03 PM

The Sandbar is white and fluffy. The North side continues to set up further and further out with the cold temps! Not sure if any of this blew up to the north end of the lake for the Coupe de Quebec.

ripsessionkites - 22-1-2011 at 02:41 AM

news on Kitestorm 2011

Peter Lynn will be there with team riders : Chris and Todd with Charger demos. there will also be goodies/give-a-ways and event prizes.

Recon is also throwing in a pair of goggles for a prize to one of the events

only wish i was going too.

shehatesmyhobbies - 22-1-2011 at 06:42 AM

:thumbup::thumbup: Good times!

rocfighter - 23-1-2011 at 05:44 AM

We are counting the change jar to make this one. I think it is going to happen as we both have the weekend off and there should be planty for Sandy to do as well. XC, Snowshoeing and such.

snowspider - 24-1-2011 at 08:09 AM

Great event! If the weather is right half of Burlington shows up on the lake and looks like more buggies than ever befor.

NJLandboarder - 31-1-2011 at 08:24 PM

i just asked my dad and he said maybe so tomorrow i will beg my mom,

is there any way we could convert his land yacht to work on the lake if we do come?

chudalicious - 31-1-2011 at 09:09 PM

We're thinking of going too... But there needs to be snow. No ice kiting for me thanks. Anyone know if it is snow covered? I'm determined to get up and ride before the winter is over dangit! Came sooo close at Tug. :(

rocfighter - 1-2-2011 at 03:26 AM

Big storm coming this week. Maybe a foot of new snow. But it's still 25 days away. But I'll bet there is snow here and there!

snowspider - 1-2-2011 at 09:02 AM

It looks like the usual gathering spot Best Western is sold out. I booked a room at Hampton Inn Colchester ,exit 16 , for $50 a night fri. and sat. using Priceline bid. Maybe they would accept a direct offer at that price. Its half way between the sand bar and the party sat. night , should work out pretty well. Good luck

vtliter - 1-2-2011 at 11:02 AM

We've got excellent coverage on the lake and a forecast of up to 18" more over the next 48 hours!
We'll try and save some for you

chudalicious - 1-2-2011 at 11:20 AM

Just booked our room!!! So looking forward to it!

Also, what is the wind like there? I know Tug was known for being a bit gusty but what about lake Champlain?

vtliter - 1-2-2011 at 11:27 AM

As long as there's not West in the wind direction we tend to get pretty clean wind at Sandbar. There's a long fetch from both N and S that lends to the "cleanliness" of the wind. That's not to say it doesn't get gusty. We've had ALL sorts of wind over the years at Kitestorm so just come prepared mentally and quiverly!

rocfighter - 1-2-2011 at 11:54 AM

I just booked at Best Western a few minutes ago. They only have basic rooms with two twinns but its a room with a shower!! I've slept in far worse!

NJLandboarder - 1-2-2011 at 05:59 PM

what do kite buggiers do on the frozen lake?

Todd - 1-2-2011 at 06:08 PM

Add blades or skis

snowspider - 2-2-2011 at 06:46 AM

If you call Wind Jammer Best western they have rooms available for Kitestorm visitors , the on line reservation shows they are full on Sat.
Call them to reserve a room!
Sorry for any confusion.

doublespeed360 - 2-2-2011 at 06:24 PM

i had a wicked pissar good time in kite gurus buggy last year, but i think that was anomaly ,will never have as much fun as i did.there was only2 to3 inches of snow ,perfect. then dean came and took his buggy back ,on the skis i went.

Feyd - 2-2-2011 at 06:47 PM

There's a heck of a lot more snow than that now. I was there a week ago and it was a bump field north of the causeway, smoothish on the south,

Should be pretty well consolidated after this snow I bet.

Hit the Stormboarding site. She updates the conditions regularly.

snowspider - 3-2-2011 at 07:50 AM

I emailed Rachael about starting a posting on her Stormboarding site of items that will be available at the equipment swap/sale. I'm looking to sell two 10meter a 3.6 trainer (very affordable) and a large orange wind sock. I'm looking to buy a newer 10 m and would love to find an 8m Viper.
Check your gear this could be a quick easy way to pick up gear .... INSTANT GRATIFICATION AND NO SHIPPING CHARGES!

rocfighter - 3-2-2011 at 05:46 PM

We made our reservations for the room and banquit. Should be a good weekend.
Still working on finding a couple more snowmobile skiis for my buggy mod!

vtliter - 4-2-2011 at 08:21 PM

I rode Sandbar today. 10 inches of fresh pow. A bit on the heavy side though. If you edged very hard you'd see some slush below. There's more snow in the forecast, so this is shaping up to be the snowiest Kitestorm yet

Jaymz - 7-2-2011 at 11:19 AM

Reservations made for a room and the banquit. Temps in the 40's here stole our snow cover
Can't wait for the fun in VT.

frostbite - 11-2-2011 at 09:01 AM

Is there any fee associated with participating? Also, since none of my friend snowkite, they are just going to drop me off somewhere and head to Stowe. Is there a spot where every one hang out?
I check out the storm boarding site but there isn't a lot of info on the event.

vtliter - 11-2-2011 at 10:23 AM

The event is free. The only place for them to "drop you off" would be at Sandbar where the event is held. Stowe is about 1 hour away from Kitestrom, so keep that in mind.

snowspider - 11-2-2011 at 12:57 PM

cant get to page 2 , can that be fixed at the PKF end.

rocfighter - 12-2-2011 at 09:17 PM

Did you get there. I changed my settings a long time ago to 100 posts per page.

doublespeed360 - 13-2-2011 at 08:22 PM

got out today with the local crew at lake q.trying to tune up this old body for kitestorm.there was about 8 people.buggys, boards, and skis was the method of transportation.yesterday was better

snowspider - 13-2-2011 at 09:02 PM

So excited about Simcoe and Kitestorm I can hardly see straight ... or maybe thats from three days of power kiting this week. Thursday Onondaga lake , me on the Apex 7.5m and Morgan on the Apex 5m winds just under 20mph. Flew 22miles after work under sunny sky untill sunset , 34mph on the sled really variable surface.
Saturday Sylvan beach again winds just under 20 untill a squall blasted thru then things got squirrely. Trying to depower, Morgan pulled the top hat and the kite still draging him he released it , it blew down wind laying over a snowmobile trail and sure enough here comes 3 of them , the second one wadded up the flying lines. As the squall is hitting I bring my sled and the kite to a stop by the carnage , put my foot down to secure everything all of a sudden I'm ass over tea kettle with a death grip on the brake reaching for the top hat. After slicing and dicing Morgans kite from the snowmobile I look at my sled and one ski looks straight the other took a u-turn.
Then in 30' visabillity we walked the trail and shoreline back to the van just in time to see the sun come out ... what a day!
Today Onondaga lake was wet packing snow , 15mph winds with some stronger gusts. When it evened out somewhat Morgan started to jump with the 7.5 Apex and and his friend Mason , who I let fly my Naish 5m , got a better handle on going up wind and I would only occationaly hear a whomp as the kite slamed into the snow.
I think Ill take a break this week , the bicepts are a little tight.

rocfighter - 18-2-2011 at 05:48 AM

A bit off topic but... Does anyone have info on making Ice Ancors?

(edit) I got the info, Thanks Dale.

bigben91682 - 19-2-2011 at 07:37 AM

Did the warm front make it up that far? How are conditions holding up? Conditions are less than awesome down this way, 3 days in the high 50's didn't help....

Todd - 21-2-2011 at 08:53 AM

Anyone in need of a room at the Best Western? Unfortunately I will not be able to attend due to health issues. I haven't canceled the reservation yet so let me know if you need it.

bobalooie57 - 21-2-2011 at 08:56 AM

Man, sorry to hear that. I was hoping to get out there during the day on Sat. to visit with you. :( Get well soon!:spin:

rocfighter - 21-2-2011 at 10:06 AM

Todd we will miss you. I'll have an extra burger for you at the dinner!! Hope your feeling better soon.

chudalicious - 21-2-2011 at 02:16 PM

Sorry to hear you won't be attending, Todd. Thank Goodness WW is not too far away! Get well soon man!

BigBen - have you heard anything else about the conditions? We are a wet, muddy mess here in RI. Hoping the warm weather does not ruin what were great snowkite conditions

kiteNH - 21-2-2011 at 04:02 PM

I'm looking for a condition update as well. I've always had a great time regardless of the conditions but I don't think I'm going to make the trip to kite on ice this year.

If there is no snow on the lake I don't think I'm going to bother....rather save the trip and try to scout out a field or something. I've done so little kiting in the last year, its criminal. I should be charged with cruelty to kites for keeping them locked up in my closet for so long.

bigben91682 - 21-2-2011 at 07:42 PM

posted on FB by stormboarding:

"Conditions at sand bar are a mix of ice (both flat and bumpy) and small snow patches and the good news... Big snow islands with lots of snow to be found to the east."

doublespeed360 - 21-2-2011 at 07:50 PM

sorry todd you can't make it get well ,when in doubt send the corman

Todd - 22-2-2011 at 05:32 AM

Hey, thank you for the well wishes guys... I wish you all to have fast and safe runs while your there along with good stories at the dinner!

Feyd - 22-2-2011 at 06:32 PM

Current conditions cn be seen on the STormboarding site in addtition to the Stormboarding FB page.

As of yesterday there were patches of ice punctuated by islands of packed pow snow. Some apparently huge and some small. I suspect that as you hed further north up the lake the conditions will be a bit more boney. When I was riding up the lake last week it was frozen slush. Fast and textured. After the short thaw I bet it's smoothed out a bit.

Probably good for ice buggy, sharp skis, skates and boards with ice blades.

Most people stick near the launch area and that seems to have most of the snow from what the pix show. I suspect the race course will be a mix of both snow and ice.

vtliter - 24-2-2011 at 09:16 AM

NOAA weather update for Burlington VT tomorrow:

Friday: Snow likely before 7am, then snow and areas of blowing snow after 7am. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 33. Windy, with a north wind 5 to 8 mph increasing to between 25 and 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.

Couldn't have come at a better time as the surface was not looking good. Wax up the boards!

snowspider - 24-2-2011 at 09:25 AM

Watch it as it happens www.keelerbay.net webcam near sandbar

chudalicious - 24-2-2011 at 09:37 AM

WOOhOOOO!!
I was getting worried and thinking we maybe should just not make the trek.

Thanks for the encouraging update vtliter!

vtliter - 24-2-2011 at 10:02 AM

We've been doing snowdances and it looks like someone was listening!

I actually had a buddy stud up a set of tires for my buggy thinking it would be required for the "hard" surface. Looks like the buggy will be staying in the barn this weekend.

Kober - 24-2-2011 at 10:27 AM

Hopefully this 7 hour trip will end with beautiful view of snow covered lake. So far I use snowboard only and I am not sure if ice skates will put smile on my face ...... I got Lundhags Multiskates and black diamond anchor for this first time ice experience and nightmare dreams of hard landings every few minutes ......
Can't wait to meet some of you in person and maybe get some pointers to help me with beginner issues. I will use GIN kites so feel free to get closer if you see me being dragged all over the lake.

chudalicious ...... I just realize that I bought bindings of you on ebay .....

chudalicious - 24-2-2011 at 11:45 AM

Quote:

Small, small world :) and I hope they turned out well for you

BTW - you are not alone. I'll be the one either getting dragged due to lack of skill or just sitting there due to lack of confidence to put up a larger size kite!

Can't wait to meet you all as well!

Jaymz - 24-2-2011 at 01:11 PM

Who are you kidding Kober?.....You rode like a seasoned vet at Sandy Hook. Just watch the video and pat yourself on the back please.

Looks like we may be driving up in the snow tomorrow. Drive safe everyone. Can't wait to meet y'all and get on the lake.

Feyd - 24-2-2011 at 09:27 PM

Looks like good snow amounts forcasted for tomorrow with nukin' winds in the afternoon.

Be there or be square.

rocfighter - 25-2-2011 at 12:19 PM

We got to the hotel last night and this morning headed up to SandBar. Man was it snowing and the wind was insane! Not even the fishermen where out there in their huts.
So who else is at the Windjammer? What are you up to on this fine wintery day? Look us up we are here.

chudalicious - 25-2-2011 at 12:53 PM

On our way up after work!

Hope tomorrow looks good - from the predictions, it looks like they downsized the snow totals a bit to 4-6in. Hope it is still a good day to get my learning on and ride dangit!

frostbite - 26-2-2011 at 12:56 AM

Stayin at Bolton valley with a few friends and will be there first thing tomorrow morning. This is my first time attending a snowkite festival so say hi cuz I'd love to meet some board member I have been reading from all these months!
Look for the Asian guy with a puffy green jacket, a red tipped helmet with a 10m charger trying to keep up with everyone.

-=koLLac=- - 26-2-2011 at 12:26 PM

I just got back from the Sandbar. It was my first year at the Kitestorm but the turnout seemed nice - the parking lot was filled to capacity at noon with more people arriving still. The dump last night helped the conditions a lot. Could have been a bit windier but overall a good time:)

Feyd - 28-2-2011 at 12:18 AM

Another Kitestorm has come and gone. Had a great time inspite of the light winds. Got to meet a lot of new people and see a lot of old friends.

The turn out was good. Friday the wind was nukin and the visabilty was less than 1/4 mile. Saturday lighter winds but still good and Sunday the winds crapped out half way through the day but it was wicked nice out all the same. Allowed us to leave a little early to get home and snowblow our driveways.

Sorry Peter Lynn Kiteboarding wasn't able to make it in an official capacity but I hope I was able to help some of you who had questions about thier ARCs. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get done with the racing in time to let anyone take mine out for a spin.

My only complaint would be a certain group of kite company reps that had total disregard for other kiters gear and safety. They and also left a spent propane tank and other garbage behind when they left. Way to represent.

Some of the local Burlington kiters cleaned up after them.

Otherwise it was a great time.

rocfighter - 28-2-2011 at 06:24 AM

Feyd I agree with all your comments. Mostly our niebors with the attitude. Glad they didn't show Sunday.

Kober - 28-2-2011 at 06:51 AM

Saturday was amazing ...... Start kiting around 9am and finished around 4 with one break only......

P1050503.jpg - 88kB

Feyd - 28-2-2011 at 07:04 AM

Great shot there Kober. Rachael said that at one time she counted 64 kites in the air at once.

9-4 is a pretty long day, nice work!

@ Roc, I hear ya man. At one point I remembered I turned on my helmet cam to catch some of the lameness that our less than considerate neighbors were exhibiting. Hopefully that vendor won't send the romper room next year.

But I'm not gonna dwell on jackasses. It was a great time over all and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun. A lot of you guys had to drive through some nasty stuff to get there and I was glad to see so many people made it.

I'm apologize to anyone who was looking to get on a Charger while they were there. As you know Peter Lynn was unable to have demo representation there and I was there to race so my time to interact was extremely limitied. I wish I could have gotten some people out on my kites after the races but as you all know the wind have pretty much craoked by then.

Hopefully next year!

Todd - 28-2-2011 at 09:25 AM

I would like to apologize as well for being unable to attend, rode the couch all weekend hoping the best for you guys! Now bring on the pictures so I can see what I missed!!

chudalicious - 28-2-2011 at 09:47 AM

What a great time!

The drive was awful as it should have been a 4.25 hr trek that turned into a 7+ hour crawl. The roads were terrible on Friday with cars spinning out all over 93 and 89.

Sat was great! Got up and did a bunch of downwinders on my 7 Frenzy and then as the wind lighted up to about 4-8, I snached up Anderson's 9 Frenzy and actually got some upwind runs in! I was so STOKED to say the least and will post our usual video montage in the coming days.

With no wind on Sunday we just toured Burlington. Hit Magic Hat Brewery, Burton Factory and Ben & Jerry's. Good times but would have preferred some wind instead.

Yes - snowkiting is SO much more fun when you can actually DO IT!

:singing:

snowspider - 28-2-2011 at 12:06 PM

Yea the ride up was brutal , glad Saturday made up for it. It was fun to be able to show what the sled is capable of ... bang poof bang poof poof bang poof oh sh** poof bang , took two passes before I realized why I was hitting so hard , forgot my seat cushion. My son Morgan was pounding it all day on the green 10m apex , the kid could hardly walk that evening. As always thank you Rachael and company for a great event!

rocfighter - 28-2-2011 at 01:58 PM

Spider I was highly impressed with your sled. And totaly frustrated with my buggy skiis!! But there is always next year. I think I need to build a much lighter frame with blades for ice. If it gets cold enough tonight I may take it to the local field in the morning and see how it goes on hard frozen snow and ice.

doublespeed360 - 28-2-2011 at 07:41 PM

well we had snow this year.it was cold in the morning,i had a tuff go at it on skis, not enough power, should have used my 6m jojo rm .met new kiters rode with old kiters.saw this guy rode over jaymz lines(insert swear word here) it's on the video.buggy-dan won a kite," sooo he had a wicked good time "thanks rachael of stormboarding.com for letting us play in your back yard hq boys see you soon.

Jaymz - 28-2-2011 at 08:17 PM

WOW, Great event. My head's still in a haze. Tough getting back to work today. Started going though the pics and video tonight. Todd, hope your getting better. I'll put something together and have it up in a few days. Stay tuned.

The trip started off with a rough 10 hour drive up Friday though rain, ice, and snow. Lost count of all the cars off the road.

Saturday was the day with just enough wind hanging around until late in the day. The 14M Gin saved the day. I've never seen so many kites up in one place. What a site :singing: Good mix of skiers, boarders, and a few buggies.
Thank you Chris for taking the time to help with the ARC  I'll let you know how the mods work out.

Bummer when some asshat (from the romper room?) ran over and ruined my lines which kept me off the ice for awhile. Paul was Johnny on the spot and got it on tape  Couldn't find anyone selling lines but Kober saved the day pulling a new lineset out of his bag of tricks. Thanks bud.

Here's a suggestion, why not have a rule like we have in motorcycle racing, NO riding in the pits. It looked to me like we had a setup area Saturday, but alot of riders were clueless and riding aimlessly though staked kites and pedestrians. Not good.

Always good to see the Nahant crew and good hanging with Chuddy and BF at The Windjammer bar. Easy on that thumb.
Saturday night Banquet was a full house with good food, good flix, and prizes and giveaways flying around the room.

No wind Sunday, so we headed over to Mallets Bay to check out an ice autoX. Kober and I had a good time riding shotgun with a few drivers and drifting the truck on the ice.

A BIG Thanks to Rachael and crew for all their hard work and for putting on the event year after year. See you next year, or maybe sooner.

snowspider - 1-3-2011 at 08:44 AM

The crew at Lake Simcoe last year had a nicely marked out launch and land area that was set up to deal with a snowmobile supper highway that passed thru close to the event , very simple , worked very well.
Maybe next year a more orderly pit area could be arrainged to reduce line crossing problems. I saw four lines run over last year 3 in a row by a skier and 1 by kids pushing a runner sled. I mark mine with little orange soccer cones now just hoping someone will figure out what they are there for.

Jaymz - 1-3-2011 at 02:59 PM

Great idea using the cones, but who needs MORE crap to carry out on the ice. lol And some people even forget to carry all their crap back off
I'm posting a KiteStorm 2011 video in the snowkite forum. Threw in Pauls clip of Asshat running over my lines. It's towards the end.
All in all had a great weekend, don't let the ominous soundtrack fool you ;-)

rocfighter - 2-3-2011 at 05:15 PM

I never heard AssHat before!! thats funny.

chudalicious - 3-3-2011 at 09:46 AM

Our take on the fun.

http://www.vimeo.com/20590389

Unfortunately, Anderson's cam froze so the footage of him riding was lost :(

I'll have to make up for it in the next video!

snowspider - 3-3-2011 at 10:51 AM

Pretty sweet feeling when you put it all together. Congrats!

chris - 4-3-2011 at 11:20 AM

Great to see everyone again. Ran into an old friend on the ice, but didn't realize who they were until their full name was announced at the gathering Saturday night. Total aoxo!

HQ Kites had a wonderful time offering demos. Glad to know we were not the offending company. :saint:

Here are some video clips off my iPhone:

rocfighter - 4-3-2011 at 02:14 PM

I'm glad it wasn't you guys too. You were good niebors on the ice. And I like your videos as well.

Kober - 17-10-2011 at 08:03 PM

Do you know any other sources of video or pictures from last event

bobalooie57 - 17-10-2011 at 10:09 PM

Have you checked the stormboarding website? There are some photos from each year going back a ways. I thought I had a link, but I guess not, if you put stormboarding in your search block, you should find it.

chris - 7-11-2011 at 10:00 AM

Sad news. I spoke with Rachael today and she informed me that she is shutting down her Stormboarding business and that Kitestorm will not happen in 2012.

She has been focusing her energy and time on The Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean.

http://www.rozaliaproject.org/

Certainly wish her the best. But going to miss Kitestorm. :(

:o WOW! That is sad news indeed! Especially since taking up this obsession, I have been telling myself, next year, hoping I would gain the skills to ride in a crowd! lol So I never got to kitestorm...

Kite storm was great last year. I didn't accomplish much due to my ski project fail! But I was very empressed by those who succeded. And now I have The Blades Of Death I was looking forward to this coming event.
Do you think we could just meet up there on the proposed dates and have some fun?

I'm sure you could. I'm pretty sure this isn't an event where you need to have a special permit or anything.. Just show up and have some fun... ;)

Stormboarding site still says "Kitestorm 2012 will be Feb 25-26"

Maybe someone will pick up the ball and get to work on a "big" event like years past, or we can just plan a smaller meetup that weekend, or another weekend conditions are good.

snowspider - 8-11-2011 at 08:12 AM

That news is depressing , I love Kitestorm. Maybe a gathering in the the middle of Mass. It would be more central to to most participants I would think. I know I'm up for at least one or two mid-winter adventures. Lake Sunapee looks kite friendly.

We have a large (for CT) lake here as well called Lake Pokatipoug. Lots of snowmobiles, but Ice boats as well. I plan to head there when it freezes as often as I can. I'll post how it is.

bobalooie57 - 8-11-2011 at 08:49 AM

Well, there's always the Tug Hill! Festival will be MLK weekend, but any weekend with snow/wind will do! Also the lakes in your neck of the woods, snowspider. We'll be riding! (or trying, in my case... lol)

No doubt Oneida is good, huge lake , lots of access points that allow good kiting with winds from any direction ,almost always snow covered in February ,easy to get to from rt81 or rt90, 3 places have large plowed parking lots , Turning Stone casino at one end ,Syracuse at the other. Everybody chime in , Oneida lake is very doable.

Winter Kiting Festive- perspective

"People can still show up on the dates..." is exactly right.

Just Go! You got everything you need to have fun.

Any more formal than that someone one has to take the reigns. But nobody has to take the reigns more than just to post an intent to show up on a date a place! See who wants to join.

Deep down I think people like the officialness if not the organization and scheduling of activities for social event as motivation to attend.

Oneida is an amazing place to ride. When the conditions set up right, it can truely offer some of the best riding in the area. Please keep us posted on ice depth and snow depth when the time comes.
