Power Kite Forum

Just read this one, funny thought I would share.

So I was at the park flying my kite and this random guy came up to me and said "You flying a kite?" I replied "Nah I'm fishing for birds" :D Heres your sign!:spin:

May have been shared before, but first time for me. I got a good chuckle out of it!

I think it was here but maybe on another forum where I remember someone posting that they were approached by another adult asking if their kid could try to fly. I think the person said they were flying a 12m kite at the time. When they explained how powerful it was and that they wouldn't even let an inexperienced adult fly, they were basically called an #@%$#!. Some peoples kids

I explained how I was into kiting to a co-worker a few months ago. His comment was....and you can use those here on the prairies???.....another co-worker jumped in........not really, they only work on the coast where there's water.....he was actually being sincere with his remark too.

I like when they call my kite a parachute. And my ATB a cart/scooter/skateboard/don't even know what to say.

I've had people ask (after stopping in my buggy) "Where's the motor on that thing?" Have also had people ask "How do you keep those wires so straight?" not realizing that the kite was actually being flown on line.

And the most annoying after someone hears that I like kite flying....

"You should use a fishing pole to fly your kites. Makes it really easy to wind them back in afterwords...You'll thank me for that tip!!!"

My favorite is a borrowed one. "How fast do you have to get that thing before the kite will fly"?

I have a screw driver Which I use as a stake, I keep it on the forks in some tube.

When people ask what is that I reply

The Gearshift

People don't get that creative here ... it's just "What are you doing?" they do it all the time too ... I'm sitting at my desk reading a book and it's "What are you doing?"

One time, I had rolled out my Psycho3 and was untangling the lines, I got asked by some of my kids "What are you doing?" and I said "Baking a cake." They didn't have a problem with that. Then they said "What's that?" and I said it was a kite. And then they said "Where is the picture?" cos all Japanese kites have the pictures of samurai or whatever on them ...

Never ceases to amaze me how limited some peoples experience is ...!

shehatesmyhobbies - 14-1-2011 at 08:18 PM

Bob, I have had similar reactions, ..... how fast does that thing make the kite go?, ...... WHAT!

Nocando, I would have simply said, .... It's a screwdriver!:lol: Makes them think, man I really asked a silly question.
