Cool shots indeed! Nice work with the photography, another one of many hobbies that I enjoy.

"new gear fever" has nothing to do with the wind.

it'll pass, you'll fly and all will great, just like the pic!

@todd thanks for the props.. i guess multiple hobbies helped me as i did get some "win " out of the day despite the wind skunking.

@phree.. well im glad you think new gear has nothing to do with the wind.. even though the evidence points to the opposite ill head your words.. and thanks as well..

The new gear curse is real....

My next kite is Flysurfer 19m so I will not be effected by the no wind curse!!!!:wee:

every time I get a new kite the wind refuses to blow.

I have to admit that I have been cursed by all my new kites. The one exception was my 19m speed 2.5. It will fly in about 2mph. I can't really do much with it but it will fly and create some pull.

The newer the gear and/or the more you are anticipating flying the kite, the worse the kite curse will hit.

I recently bought my 4th ace, a little 2m, vaguely hoping for a kite to play with on the 15-25 mph days... I was able to fly it the next day.

But when I bought my 6.5 blade a couple years ago (my first big kite beyond 5m) I was skunked for weeks.

Hang in there, the winds gods will smile again...

thanks again for the support all... still no wind.. i work semi outside in an auto shop... the shop has the lot that wraps around it on both sides.. on this lot are 50 or so 5' x 7' flags... they hang lifeless..... all day.................. for weeks now ............

Wind forecast looks good for when my new toys will arrive... but of course, I said something, so now there will be no wind.

Cheddarhead - 28-1-2011 at 11:05 PM

Your not alone. My synergy arrived a while back and I've only had it out once because the wind refuses to cooperate. I've done a couple wind dances for the both of us, but no such luck in this neck of the woods.

You could always go the other way with it, when I got my 6m I went out foolishly in 17 gusting to 40+

Cheddarhead - 29-1-2011 at 11:52 AM

No thanks, this way is better IMHO.

that's the other way the kite curse works -- if you get wind it's evil stuff, not the nice easy stuff you want for a first flight. Especially when sizing up, eh?

highazakite - 29-1-2011 at 12:27 PM

well it looks like about 10mph is coming my way yaeah... to bad its coming with 90% chance of rain... may just go and try it out any way, thats why i have a drying line hung up in the garage....

@ the high wind problem.. yea i agree no wind is better than too much.. still remember flying like 20 feet on my 3m not on purpose .... havnt tried scary since...

Cheddarhead - 30-1-2011 at 02:09 AM

Calling for 12mph to 16 for this coming Wednesday/Thursday. If it holds true it will be on my two days off work. Can't ask for much better to experiment with.:bouncy:
