I recently bought a Prism 1.9 and I'm flying it pretty good now and I'm looking to get a bigger one. I'm looking at the Beamer IV 5.0 and the Prism
Tensor 5.0. I can get the Beamer for about $150 less than the Tensor, and they are both brand new. Any info on these 2 kites? Does anyone out there
fly either of these that can give me some info? why is the prism so much more, is it a better kite?
Thanks,

my vote goes to HQ BeamerDAKITEZ - 25-1-2011 at 10:58 PM
you are getting a deal on the beamer. The beamer retails at $370 and the tensor at $399, so there should only be a $30 diff.
for $30 I say go for the tensor simply because of the adjustable aoa. But for a $150 less take the beamer for sure.
Also don't forget to look at the Peter Lynn Hornet and Viper. They fall into the same category as the beamer and tensor.DAKITEZ - 25-1-2011 at 11:03 PM

his vote doesn't count because he doesn't even know what a tensor is :P
Also I just wanted to add ... your 1.9 is a nice kite but it is not a power/traction kite like the kites you are looking at now. The power will be
extremely different. Your 1.9 will be equal to roughly a 1m beamer if they made one. SO with that said having a 1m and 5m kite leaves a big hole in
your quiver. You might want to consider something in the 3-4m size range??mnytoks - 26-1-2011 at 11:23 AM
DAKITEZ, thanks for the help and info. I am real new to this, so this might sound like a Rookie question, but that's because I am a Rookie. HAHA.
What does it mean when you say "leaves a big hole in your quiver"?ripsessionkites - 26-1-2011 at 10:03 PM
2m gaps is a good reference, 2m, 3m, 5m, 7m will cover you ... less gaps for higher winds
im not a Prism fan since they left from their seattle office to manufacture to China. I miss my Vapor and custom Illusion. who doesnt know Prism?
you maybe be old and wear a pink skirt, but ive been around since I was a baby. :moon:

I had the opportunty to fly the Prism Tensor 4.2. I did'nt fly with the bar because Iim a fixed bridle person so flew on handles. I was at a local
soccor field and with all of the rain we've had, it was way muddy.I didn't bother to take out the buggy. I was afraid I would never see it again. Well
that and I didn't want to wreck the turf.
Soggy ground isn't a bad place to you sud on. The winds were lumpy with peaks at 9 mph. The Tenor work great on handles . It's a smooth kite to fly.
I would pick this kite over a HQ Beamer or a Peter Lynn Hornet or Vipor (and that's coming form a true blue PL man).
This is a powerful kite with the added advantage of having AOA (adjustable angle of attack). The AOA makes setting the kite up for the wind you are
flying in, a piece of cake. It's is well built and I anticipate, it well last a long time for some one starting out. I started with a Prism P3 and
still have it although I don't fly it too mush anymore. You will be able to use the Tensor series of kites for a lot of flying. It is a good all
around kite at reasonable price. Fly and have fun and be (SAFE).
