Removing posts

geokite - 31-1-2011 at 11:53 AM

If posts are removed from a thread, could the poster be notified as to why? Wouldn't that be considered common politeness?

jellis - 31-1-2011 at 01:53 PM

Did you get in trouble again Steve? Or is it just me?

geokite - 31-1-2011 at 01:56 PM

I had just responded as to the inappropriate nature of rip's comment about his activity on the beds at Primm. All the posts concerning this were removed, even those that didn't quote rip.

Well, at least I didn't erase my own posts, unlike some people...

erratic winds - 31-1-2011 at 03:27 PM

streisand efffect. now we all want to know what was removed...

geokite - 31-1-2011 at 09:20 PM

Erratic; when? the most recent removal, or the erasing of posts by the author(s) a couple of years back I alluded to in my reply to Jon?

erratic winds - 31-1-2011 at 09:52 PM

No, just in general. Removing a post ain't big news, until people start talking about it, and wondering what was removed.

I'd certainly like to delete a few of mine that were made in haste, but they're locked so I can't.....

Leojim - 31-1-2011 at 09:55 PM

While you may not be able to delete a post, you can EDIT it. Thus, you can completely alter it to say........DOH!!! or whatever.
<--Old part : New part -->
This part is added via edit...use the edit icon on the upper right of you post - looks like this:

You can't do anything to a post in a Locked thread...not even edit...

But all this talk has made me realize that posts have been deleted that I asked for deletion a long time ago, and they refused to. Very strange that they are gone now.

So, I guess my mess got sweeped under the carpet, thanks PKF admin!

pkf - 31-1-2011 at 10:36 PM

geokite, don't know what you're talking about. No posts regarding beds at Primm were removed.

markite - 1-2-2011 at 05:59 AM

Are there different moderators for the NABX forum with admin privileges? There was a comment and several replies regarding the original comment that were removed.

WTF? They most certainly were. Good thing, too.

jellis - 1-2-2011 at 07:18 PM

Now that was a while ago Steve. Hope to see you at Ivanpah and buy you a beer.

BeamerBob - 1-2-2011 at 09:00 PM

Yes posts were removed last week. Deservedly so. pkf is not the admin for that forum so might not have been aware. The moderator of the nabx forum, has his hands full with nabx, so the courtesy note probably won't make it to the top of the to-do list.

pkf - 2-2-2011 at 06:22 AM

I'm the only mod who may remove posts... wasn't me. How about a link to the thread in question?

Regarding removal notices: the only time I remove posts is when they break our posted rules. Since everyone should know the rules, I don't think it is necessary to spend my mornings writing explanations.

Is it possible that the thread was moved to a different category? It is often necessary to move threads to the correct category.

My reply to someone else's reply to rip was something along the line of "Agreed. This is a family oriented activity/forum."

Which forum rule does that break?

Beamer: I'll address my questions to the mod of the nabx forum. Thread wasn't moved, as it is still there! Just four posts were deleted.

acampbell - 2-2-2011 at 06:37 AM

Yeah that was weird. Scudley, GeoKite and I immediately commented on a most inappropriate post from a prominent PKF member. Made me think that his account was hacked, it was in such poor taste. Then all the posts except MarS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s original post (useful and thoughtful) were removed.

Makes me think that someone is cleaning up for his mistake, for whatever reason. Some guardian angel maybe?

If this is the case, it gives me a creepy feeling, someone trying to erase all history of it. Reminds me a communist gov't. (ok, that may be a bit extreme)

acampbell - 2-2-2011 at 08:14 AM

LOL, makes me remember back in the day when we said that Russian History books had loose-leaf pages.

I'll say it again... I didn't remove any posts from this thread. I don't know of any rules broken, no reports made, in fact, I haven't read this thread until now.

Correction of an earlier statement: event forum mods are able to delete posts in their own forums. If a mod finds a post offensive, they may remove it at their discretion. I guess that is what happened here.

ripsessionkites - 7-2-2011 at 06:47 PM

im the topic of conversation again?

i normally report my own posts, i did have issues with my access since i use a lot of Airport Wifi and its all un-secure.

whats the topic about anyways on Primm Beds?

jellis - 7-2-2011 at 07:20 PM

Rip it's just Steve! We don't give a #@%$#!e! The school kids he teaches must have gotten the best of him so now he is taking in out on us.
