11m Advance Viper foil?

Jaymz - 10-2-2011 at 09:02 PM

A buddy let me borrow an older 11m Advance Viper closed cell foil to use when conditions permit. Would like to give it a try snowkiting in 8-14mph. Kite looks to be in great condition.

Can't find much info and most of the search hits are not in English. One post compared it to a water relaunchable Blade and another said many hints of the older flysurfers (Worrior?)

Kite has a long narrow profile. HOOJ bridle with pullies each side. 5 air inlets on the LE and velcro inflate/deflate.

Anyone have any info?

i never flew the Viper, however i use to fly the Rhea and IO when I was distributor back in the day.

great kites from a great designer : Robert Graham

i would have to dig up old catalogs in the dungeon for this one.

@ Kober, This is one of Lars kites. We'll see what she's got next time out. He said it will be gruntier then the Gin 14 and should fly earlier. Flies on handles or bar. Don't expect much depower on a bar.

@ Rip,
Yup, I did see that Robert Graham was behind the design and soon after moved to Gin Kites. The kite belongs to a local guy who knew Robert and was a Gin Kite distributor up until a few years ago. I'm lovin the Gins on snow.

the Rhea and IO flew on a bar but had joints that allowed it to pull and push like handles.

yep, Robert is doing great things for Gin, and the company is looking up and up. Too bad the Tonkawa (great for gusty conditions) never took off on the flip side the depower foils are a huge hit in Europe.
