Out on the lake today, a buddy had this minimalist blade setup on an MBS board using a kitewing. He used threaded rod hose clamped to the trucks.
He's been out a few times with no issues and was fast. There were 7-8 sail boards with windsurf rigs there also and none could stay with him. Might
have been the board, might have been the kitewing, or both. Winds were real gusty.
He said the stainless blades are made in Russia and were about $200. He's sending the link if anyone is interested.

Ahhh, a pic is worth a thousand words... Just couldn't picture this when you were describing it to me. Are the tops of those blades sharp...?

It looked like they were made from 1/4" s.s. plate.
Bottoms were sharpened like ice boat blades, with a 45 degree angle on both sides to make a point. I think they use aluminum oxide belt sand paper to
sharpen working up through a few grits 40/80/120.

How did he describe turns on this set up? I imagine they wouldn't be very tight. How about stopping? I would think looking at this set up doing an
"ice slide" might not be an option? Looks like it might be more of a straight line ride?
It's always good to see people adapting their toys to unintended environments!

I still like the jugs on both ends of the board
flexboardz - 10-3-2011 at 04:30 AM

I got confirmation from the riders that the plastic cans are here to keep it afloat if ice breaks...crazy !

Sorry to bring up an old post, but really wondering......... Any reports on how the ice blades work????? Which ones would be the best all around
cruising off that site????? If I had a set of these, I could have been cruising the lakes for over a month now.
