GoPro gets a 2nd use....

bigkid - 13-2-2011 at 08:52 AM

Wasn't able to get any kite or buggy playing while I was in Kauai, HI. last week. So did a bit of snorkeling to pass the time and used my HD GoPro for another use that turned out OK.
Not kite flying but a close 3rd or 4th.

Love Kauai! Was that poipu? watch out for urchines!

Cool vid, Jeff. Was it easy for the bathers to tell they were literally swimmin' with the fishes? I know of some that would have been crying with fright at the thought. Fish populations must be quite good there for the fish to be so unwary of humans in their element.

Yah, Poipu is a great spot for looking at fish and all of the sunbathers. After the turtles swam by I discovered the camera was off, and than saw a 3 foot snowflake eel swim by and decided to call it a day. You will just have to take my word on that.

Everyone in the water was looking for fish, so there wasn't anyone that I heard yelling from a fish snuggling up to them.

Was that handheld or did you use a GoPro mount?

bigkid - 13-2-2011 at 04:25 PM

I had it on the strap for my head but after the mask was on I didnt have enough left to mount it to:puzzled:
So I held it in my hand.

Heh Jeff, I used mine while snorkeling in Playa del Carmen earlier this year, actually last year now. It worked well. One of the guys at the local dive shop had one mounted for diving also. I thought about taking mine down while diving but since it was my first time diving, I didn't figure I needed any more distractions. :)
Next time.

This is very cool. We used ours last summer to film our kids & Grandaughter swimming at out boat. But yours is better because the water is clear!!
