This is mainly single-line type stuff, and there's usually no room for powerkites, but there's usually a buggy demo.Seanny - 24-2-2011 at 09:50 PM
I really need to start paying better attention. I had no idea you beat me to this by two days burritobandit - 24-2-2011 at 10:14 PM
Haha..
Turns out i'm not going to be able to make the event :/ I'm taking a trip to the Rio Grande Valley and South Padre Island that weekend.
Show up the day before, if you can.. You might see the peeps with the huge kites show up to test them, and once I caught a few Rev flyers show up
early to practice as well. My buddies and I were flying my fixed bridles and had the big corded off spaces to ourselves Seanny - 25-2-2011 at 08:12 AM
Oh, so you are going to Padre? I might go the day before. The drive to Austin may not be worth it if there won't be any room to fly during the
festival, anyway. Although sometimes late in the day, people will clear out areas for people to fly power kites. I saw you there last year.flyjump - 25-2-2011 at 08:28 AM
dang seanny we need to get you a Peter Lynn shirt so you can be an unofficial rep for usSeanny - 25-2-2011 at 09:56 AM
That'd be so cool!! :D I've always wanted a shirt... I like the "Sunshine" design on PLP. Any idea how much they cost/who has them in stock?? :wee:
I'd love to buy one.flyjump - 25-2-2011 at 09:58 AM
check one of the US shops. Also if you look up the vliegerop website you can find the PL products on there. I have a Large (fits like a medium) dark
green peter lynn scorpion shirt with your name all over it seanny. U2U me your address again. I'll get it sent out today so you can be our
unofficial rep while you are there. Be friendly and have fun! Also wear that helmit boy!Seanny - 25-2-2011 at 10:05 AM
You're the best Adam! I looked on CWS and Angus has a few shirts/hoodies. The
Scorpion shirt, long sleeve shirt, and PL hoodie. Pricing is good. I may pick up a hoodie along the way... I really like the red. It will match my red
shoes
About the helmet...
I actually managed to crack it. It happened right after our big freeze. I kept it in the garage... the temperature in there went from about 20 degrees
to 60 something in one day. I think it weakened it, because I knocked it a little and the top split. I'm going to order a new one this weekend.centex_buggier - 25-2-2011 at 01:47 PM
I'm putting together a buggy demo again this year. If you are interested in riding for the crowd U2U me. We will have several 10 minute rides between
10:00AM and 1:00PM.
You need to be relatively competent in your buggy to participate. The field is pretty small and there will be several thousand people around the
perimeter so you cannot fly over powered.

Yeah, and little kids who run in front of you and dogs who eat your kite centex_buggier - 3-3-2011 at 12:49 PM
Anyone want to buggy or board in front of the crowd? U2U me
The buggy demo is arranged through the event coordinators and the field is roped off so there will be no kids or dogs to avoid.

I might want to do it, but not if I'm the only one someone else post on here! I
need an ATB buddy.burritobandit - 4-3-2011 at 12:45 PM
Sean, there will be local riders at Lake Pflugerville and Travis out that day if you wanna go peep 'em out.Seanny - 4-3-2011 at 03:43 PM
I've been checking the weekend weather maniacally. I think Saturday's wind would be far too much for the single liners and the huge kites they have
there... Sunday is more suited to it. But less suited to power kiting.
Rick, I don't have a kitesurf board... I'd love to come out if I did, though. It would be cool trying out the water. I was going to ask if you were
going to the kite fest, but I'd forgotten about your trip. If you know anyone around here that does ATB/buggying, tell them to come ride at Zilker.
Have fun!Taper123 - 13-3-2011 at 08:22 PM
I did the buggy demo once. Was really fun. THink about going upwind to the edge of a field lined with people (within feet) and then hitting the
edge, and turning downwind on a power slide on the grass.... I just had family obligations this year or I would have joined again. The Austin
buggy people are always a pleasure to ride with... even if it is in a football field sized area lined with people.Seanny - 13-3-2011 at 08:34 PM
I was there this year. I was going to do it, but there just wasn't enough wind. Steve could barely keep his 10m Jojo in the air!Taper123 - 13-3-2011 at 08:57 PM
goes to show the variety of winds,,,, I was fully powwered on a 4m Access. Now the question is,,,, what willl Cinco de Mayo Bring???centex_buggier - 14-3-2011 at 09:04 AM
I did several demos. The rides in the morning were good for the 10, but just before 12:30 the winds dropped right off and I had nothing to work with.
I only struggled for one of the demos, but I was the only one able to fly.

Steve needs to return to SOBB and kidnap Jim's 16m JoJo! centex_buggier - 19-3-2011 at 07:03 AM
If I do that, I might not want to come back to Texas. I miss SOBB.
