I bought like 3 extra battery a few months back and just kept them all charged up before I head out. Thanks for the reminder, I've been waiting for
them to update their site with the LCD screen. Just ordered one. Would order the battery bac pack also but you can't use both the LCD and battery
pack at the same time. :dunno:

I just got mine in the mail.. pretty cool 
The battery pack does act as a
(expensive) charging base also, which is nice. I cracked it open (unless you are gopro then I looked up a teardown online) and there's really not
much in there. You could make one if these yourself pretty easily (both a charger and a battery pack). And in fact you could make a much larger cell
battery pack pretty easily if you bought the bus port connector online. Next step that I haven't tried yet is to see if I can charge while it's
recording.
Also, if you buy the LCD bacpak be sure to upgrade your firmware or the screen will just make a strange clicking sound.

Just picked another GoPro HD 1080. Thing to look at is just because it's new, and just because you order direct from GoPro, check and make sure you
don't need firmware update. New camera + not checking battery indicator + LCD BacPac = clicking sound in my living room!
