How many other teens in the world lose sleep over this question lunchbox - 4-3-2011 at 08:55 PM
Granted I'm no teen, but ..that's easy...Speed 3
...and when I was a teen, I wish I had known about kites...all I did was think about girls :oJohn Holgate - 4-3-2011 at 09:00 PM

Projection booths are fun too.

P.S. +1 on factoring in the condition of the current ride into the equation.dylanj423 - 4-3-2011 at 09:58 PM
easy answer... car... patience pays and you can easily find kites that will fit your needs... speed 3 DLX is nice no doubt, but the use you will get
from one car plus the cheaper kites that you can find will surely outweigh one speed 3
besides, kitesurfing in that light a wind is not that much fun... but believe me when i say that i understand the lifeless wind in summer there...
even a speed 3 5m deluxe wont help you then, im afraid
besides the fact that you can get a speed 2 deluxe for less than half the priceKamikuza - 4-3-2011 at 10:17 PM
Do you not have a car already?flyjump - 4-3-2011 at 10:58 PM
500$ on a new 49cc moped, then the rest on new kites DAKITEZ - 4-3-2011 at 11:00 PM
maybe the new matrixx by HQ will allow you to have both :puzzled: we just need to all wait and see on the pricingKamikuza - 4-3-2011 at 11:04 PM
What's wrong with a bicycle scrounged from the trash? I rode one for a couple of years :DJohn Holgate - 5-3-2011 at 12:58 AM

But the Flysurfer will always be your friend and let you fly it whenever you like and it won't get jealous if you fly other kites and it won't nag you
when you're late getting home or pester you to do the dishes and complain when you don't earn enough money or take you to the cleaners when you get
divorced or........Seanny - 5-3-2011 at 09:29 AM
You guys crack me up It's not that I want a car with the equivalent value to a
FS, but it's hard to buy a 2.5K kite then go out and buy a car on top of it :o
Besides, I didn't buy the truck I have. I got lucky with that. :P My parents bought it in 1999 and kept it for me. Now I'm going to college and I need
something smaller. Not to mention, my brother needs something to drive, also. I figured I'd spend all my money on kites and stuff I don't need now
because when I get to college I'll be living on Ramen noodles :D
It still puzzles me that I'm weighing a kite on the same scale as a new car I mean who DOES that :bouncing: I DO!Bladerunner - 5-3-2011 at 10:16 AM
While I think Flysurfers are worth the extra money to those who can afford them I see them as a bit of a luxury item.
A reliable used car + kite will get you laid + allow you to go fly a kite when she tells you to ! Best of both worlds!
I am a firm believer in buying quality used gear if that is what suits your budget. That crosses over both cars and kites .
If you buy the model from a year or 3 ago ( speed 1.5 ) that everybody had to have and it lived up to the hype it's hard to lose. Kites and cars
haven't improved THAT much in the last few years that you will be left behind.Seanny - 5-3-2011 at 10:25 AM
Hehe, someone mentioned waiting for the Matrixx... That sounds like a really good idea :P I've been reading up on what info we know about them, and it
appears to me that a 15m would suit me quite nicely. Can't wait to see how they turn out when they're released!AJsnowkiter - 5-3-2011 at 01:12 PM
Well if you buy the kite than you can maybe get rid of an old one and sell that to make up for some of the money. But my dad always says to me, "
Think about what you NEED and what you WANT." So probably the car.Seanny - 5-3-2011 at 02:55 PM
Needs vs. wants? That just makes this whole thing harder
I think it's funny that the Flysurfer is currently winning 6 - 5 in the poll bobalooie57 - 5-3-2011 at 03:21 PM
I had to vote for the kite. For campus transportation, get a carving board. Home for the weekend? Take a bus. A car at school, with your new found
freedom might just be an unnecessary expense/distraction. You are going to college to get an education, and while your social life/skills will need
to expand, you don't need to be the guy everyone is saying, heyman, take me here or there. Just the 2 cents from an ol' f@%^, but a car worth 2,500
won't last as long as that kite will last you, IMHO.Kamikuza - 5-3-2011 at 04:21 PM

Finally! Someone who sees things my way! :D

Guilty as charged... kitedelight - 6-3-2011 at 07:18 PM
lol....only someone that has really caught the kiting bug could ask this question....happens to me too.
of course, the speed3 15 = awesome, but really.....save some bucks and get the speed2 15 SA when one comes around, or even a modded speed1
17.....unless a silly deal on a used speed3 15dlx comes around (that's not really joking cause I have seen one come up before)
And the car....for some people, a car is totally unnecessary while at college. Depends on if you are going to shop for groceries, get off campus much
(to remind yourself that life really does exists outside the institution), go visit the folks often, etc. It could be really important, or it could
be a total waste of money.
So really, it could come down to want vs need, or want vs want. Either way....I wouldn't do up a new speed3 15 while in college. There is too much
other stuff that you'll need that $ for. Let a new FS be a present for getting out of college and getting up on your feet when the funds accumulate.
That's my 2 cents.Kamikuza - 6-3-2011 at 09:25 PM
Need a car to carry the kites and boards around ... but if you already have one, where's the problem?
