Wish I can go ... I am flying out to Palm Springs to work on those wind turbines again all week so can't enjoy the wind. And I just finish my new buggy too!! :flaming:

Taper123 - 6-3-2011 at 06:01 PM

Wowza... weatherman says "Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 60s. Southeast winds 10 to 20 mph. "

Can't guarantee I can go... but is reallly tempting.
You go to the public access point before the state park? I usually just go a little farther to SLP or the other side of the bridge.

dylanj423 - 6-3-2011 at 06:21 PM

i usually set up at the south end of the park... if im surfing thats generally where i stay.. if im in a buggy or atb, ill usually venture to slp and back

Why does work always get in the way of a perfect 15 to 20 se wind buggy day ?????
If ya'll made it down there today, I'm sure it was a great day...
Green with envy :wink2:

I'm in Palm Springs right now and it's blowing about 40mph ..

dylanj423 - 7-3-2011 at 05:34 PM

got there at sunrise

wind was mid-high teens, ESE, a little off from perfect... upwind was a struggle

hit 41mph top for the day, and got to buggy and surf it up, too... glad i had my suit, even if it was only 1mm, it seemed needed

nice day, but a touch chilly... need highfat foods and sleep now...

treblehook - 17-3-2011 at 04:11 PM

Worked on my vehicle brakes today... so need to road test them tomorrow. 15-20 S-SSE winds, highs in the upper 70's at the beach. Thinking of either hitting SLP or closer to Surfside.

dylanj423 - 6-4-2011 at 01:04 PM

just got back from the levee... great day on my 15m synergy... back home now, wish i would have seen this entry earlier...

ill be going back down saturday... hope you had a blast

Taper123 - 6-4-2011 at 02:31 PM

Glad ya had a good time at the levee. I thought about going there this afternoon, but gathered up/cleaned all of my kites today instead. Revs, stunt kites, flow forms, single line kites, line laundry, foils, and Arcs :) Finally got around to stringing up my extra 07 bar... Now to get everything nice and sany again :singing:

Hitting the beach tomorrow :)

looks like were on alternating runs, lol ..... im on my way down today...

*edit*... not sure, looks like the forecast dropped

Taper123 - 8-4-2011 at 10:25 AM

Blowing good at my house today... but that doesn't mean it is at the water. Went down yesterday, got a few good water runs in, and some runs in the buggy from the water tower to SLP... then even the single line kites started to fall out of the sky.

SLP was covered in soft white sand drifts. They were EVERYWHERE. Parked by the water tower instead. Surface was really rough and bouncy for the buggy. Was over on the other side a few days before that between "stonehenge" and surfside. Car path by the dunes and one by the water... both nice and hard packed and relatively smooth. Even on a saturday I could find a couple mile stretch with a hundred yards or more spacing between cars.

Cinco de Mayo

austinbuggyman - 17-4-2011 at 03:26 PM

We are on for Cinco de Mayo next weekend, April 22-24. Camping near "Stonehenge" which is a bunch of concrete pilings on Treasure Island 1/2 mile south of the bridge.

For those google earth or gps utility users....
StoneHenge is at:
29° 3'26.93"N
95° 8'31.53"W

Current long range forecast is for 10-15 out of the SSE.

Look for me to be there for sure. I have been to SLP last week and rode the soft dunes with winds on shore at 16mph and used a 7.7 Libre Spirit. Lots of fun with speed but the back sides of the dunes had suprises with sharp drop offs.

austinbuggyman - 18-4-2011 at 10:39 AM

Awesome Jon! Glad you can make it! I plan to get there early on Friday, and will be camping in my Aliner pop-up. See you there.
