San Francisco Buggy Brothers

TangledStrings - 24-11-2005 at 09:17 AM

Im seeing alot more buggy brother up here in SF. Just a few mins north Of Ocean Beach, Is a city called Novato. Here in Novato there is an old airport. The main runnway is 9000' long with taxi ways, and aircraft parking. So there is a ton of concreat, lightly coated with dirt dust. it makes for a fun ride. Also, there is a beach called Dillion Beach. Its not a state beach, its Privately owned, close too 5 mi long with a slight curve. This beach also faces west, And with the low tides the beach is huge, and fast. Big assed sand dunes for us who have big foots. Ocean beach is big, With too many people I have had a few problems there. Elton was an eyewitness too one. Drop me an e-mail if your up for a session at an airport!!!!

Search 'bay area streaklines'... you can also check out www.airnav.com/airport/kapc and look for the winds at apc(napa) and sts(santa rosa) and it'll give you a pretty good idea. The winds are formatted as 11010k(for example) which means the winds are from 110 degrees at 10 kts.

tks gilligan,where do you buggy?

gilligan - 6-2-2006 at 05:33 PM

Hey Slawek-

I've been to ocean beach a few times, Cesar Chavez park @ the Berkeley marina(too small!) a couple of small parks in Dublin. But my favorite is Hamilton Army Air Field in Novato! I read that you've been out there a couple of weeks ago... I hope the winds were favorable. That is the major drawback there as the winds are fairly unpredictable... but when it's on, it's on! Sundays are the best days there now, as they are moving the dirt around during the week preparing for the eventual flooding, so get it while it's hot!

Also Dillon beach west of Petaluma is pretty good... nowhere near as crowded as Ocean beach with about four miles of killer beach with predictable winds.

Lately I've been fairly lucky near home as developers have pre-graded about 100 acres getting ready for development... they've graded it (not too much!) and pretty much left it alone for a few months. The winds are good if there is any wind at all, but there has to be a dry week or two otherwise it's too muddy.

If there is any wind at all on Sunday, I'm gonna try to get out to Hamilton in the early afternoon... maybe get Tangled Strings out there as well. If not, I'll try the development in Dublin if it looks like maybe no winds in the north bay. Or maybe Ocean beach if the tides look good. If you're gonna be out and about Sunday post here or derbbj7@yahoo.com and let me know, I'm itchin' to get out somewhere!

Gilligan
I do buggy minimum once a week if wind cooperate and I always call my budys if condition are right or if I"m alone on beach and haveing a blast, so if You want I can put You in to my cell and always give a ring.Just pm me with Your cell nr.This week was not to good with eastern wind all the time. On beach kite will just colapse even if av wind is 12mph so I'm looking foward to get inland on eastern winds.

Tangled strings and I are planning a Hamilton run this Sunday(2/12) around noon or 1 p.m. The winds are forecast to be fairly good fom n-nw which usually means a good session. No guarantees though!! My cell is 925-918-0732... if you call by 11ish on Sunday I'll let you know whether or not it's a go. Keeping my fingers crossed!
