Where can I buy a decent helmet?

SALVA - 20-3-2011 at 12:41 PM

Hi, I think this year is time to trough away my old bike helmet and get a new one. Dino, I remember last year you had some good ones.;-)

indigo_wolf - 20-3-2011 at 01:40 PM

Not sure where you can get stuff in HAIFA. If you are going to NABX and can have it shipped stateside, you might want to look at:

Motorcycle Closeouts
JensonUSA
NewEnough
XSportsProtective

Not sure how abusive international shipping is or what your budget is.

Walmart sells Bell Full face helmets

Are you sure you saw Dino with a helmet on?
He doesn't buggy but puts on a nice fashion show.

LOL.

I thought you were kidding. This is the only one that I could find on their website.

Bell Sports Exodus Full-Face Youth Helmet

Individual stores might have more of a selection based on region.

I apologize for any "Youth-Sized" jokes this post precipitates.

My sons tell me the helmet of choice and good price is the FLY brand

moto stores on the strip stock this

itchycrotch - 20-3-2011 at 02:25 PM

I wear a atv helmet so does my son. If your riding around 15mph and u wreck enough to hit your head a bike helmet might b just fine. I ride faster than that so I want protection is effective at higher speeds. Not to mention that you are flying a kite so most of the time your hands r busy and you dont always have time to put the down before your face hits the playa. So my suggestion is a fullface DOT approved helmet

dgkid78 - 20-3-2011 at 05:11 PM

I have seen that helmet at walmart. I can't get my head in that. I think it's aimed for kids, or I have a big head LOL.....I use snowboarding helmet I got at DicS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s Sporting Goods

BeamerBob - 20-3-2011 at 05:24 PM

Ricky doesn't realize we can't all wear youth sized helmets. :D

I just bought a Fly brand helmet at a local motorcycle shop and its DOT approved and looks pretty nice. Got it for $75.

WG, great avatar:thumbup:

Any motorcycle shop has close out deals on helmets at good prices. What size do you wear?

SlasherQuan - 20-3-2011 at 06:39 PM

That is what I like to use is my old motorcycle helmet....works good lasts long time

arkay - 20-3-2011 at 07:11 PM

good deal fly helmets are nice... though one word of caution... just like underwear helmets fit every person differently. You really need to try a helmet on to see if it's comfortable. remember you'll probably be wearing it all day!

I was going to get that fly from a local shop last year but then I tried on the scorpion and it fit my bulky head so much better. After the break in period, it was the right call for me.

As csa can attest to, there are also a few stores in Las Vegas that sell helmets :D

I posted it to make Todd smile when he saw it. It is his 8m Cent2 at my local spot.

Cracked a snowboarding helmet doing 30 on the playa couple years ago, so now I wear DOT. Though the ol lady says I'm supposed to wear it whenever I leave the house

ripsessionkites - 20-3-2011 at 08:18 PM

lol, very funny ... but i've seen the Bell Helmet as described in Adult Size (either that or Robert Smit wears Youth Medium)

also they have another brand too: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Fuel-X3-Off-Road-Helmet-Black/1456...

sorry when I go to the USA, I think Walmart "roll back prices". otherwise I never shop at Walmart here at home.

SALVA - 20-3-2011 at 10:47 PM

TNX to all, now the picture is clear. 702dirtsurfer: at least she does not ask u to wear it at home.............:D

702dirtsurfer - 20-3-2011 at 11:26 PM

Yet.....she already swears she's going to velcro everything important to me

Bladerunner - 21-3-2011 at 06:33 AM

This is a pretty good example of my ANY helmet is better than none theory.

You still will have to replace your Dot helmet after it saves you.

I feel only very few accidents fit in between that helmet was too cheap and brain damage occured space. Every year I hear of people dying wearing Bern and all sorts of quality helmets.

I think it's most important to get a helmet that is comfortable so you don't hesitate to use it.

Any recommendations on a DOT helmet for buggying that has good overhead and peripheral vision?

indigo_wolf - 21-3-2011 at 01:43 PM

What price range are you trying to stick to? Don't want to suggest anything that would require you to wipe down your computer monitor.
