What Kind of board?

So I have been Kite Landboarding about 4yrs now and would like to get out on the water at some point. Have not been in a rush since summers are short. .I can figure out what kite and size might work for me... but I havn't the slightest clue as to what size or kind of kite board I should look into... I would be kiting mainly in the ocean, and probably using the board for more than just cruising. dunno if weight and size matter. 5'6 160lbs..thanks for any feedback :yes:

ahh thanks Indigo..No Wonder I hadn't heard a thing...I will def look into that..... Another question though if anyone comes along here. Will I be using the same board most of the time? or will I need different boards for different conditions ie. Wind, Waves, flat water?

IMHO and what I would do if I could do it all over again :D
Buy a Door-type board for your first; make it a late model, good quality board. You'll keep it forever for lightwind days when you get good enough to not need all the planing surface.

Different boards for different conditions ... how much variety do you have where you are? For the lake and ocean with small waves, I've gotten away with using my Door 99.9% of the time ...

I would be at the beach 90 % of the time, I am on the North east coast. I would prob say small waves. Thanks I will Look into that type of board Kami:thumbup:

Ah, at the beach ... you might want a board with more rocker then. I still think a Door is the way to go though ...

Good advice Kami, that's what I ended up doing and still love to ride my big board to this day. I took the fins off my door type board and it rides like a totally different board now. Never stop experimenting, that's what i love about this sport.
