arkay - 21-3-2011 at 11:19 PM

Blackjack in the grotto at Excalibur or the poker room at MGM is close :) Across the bridge to NYNY then across to MGM!

Enjoy, glad to see we're in the time zone, at least physically!

How long you on the strip for?

csa_deadon - 21-3-2011 at 11:40 PM

MGM has Joel Robuchon, if you are a foodie. I go once a year when my company has training in Vegas for a week. I know, training in Vegas?!

BeamerBob - 22-3-2011 at 08:39 AM

At night, Excalibur has some dancers around the blackjack tables that must be very effective at keeping the players from concentrating on what cards have been dealt. Welcome to Paradise!

macboy - 22-3-2011 at 09:18 PM

And it was at the Excalibur that I got my keep-sake "Macboy Bobblehead" (Wasn't a big fan of the buffet next door to the bobblehead shop though - find a better one.....or find a $2.99 one ; )

I am serious about hitting the top of the Startosphere ! Those rides on top aren't that wild but the location 108? stories up they take on a different appeal. Also one thing I thought wasn't over priced.

arkay - 24-3-2011 at 05:57 PM

I was planning to head down on Saturday with cda_deadon and RRR but the wife got sick, so I might not head down until Monday (1.5 days drive) or if she doesn't get better I may let you guys enjoy the desert without me :sniff: But... if I'm headed down I'll most certainly look you up :D

nocando - 25-3-2011 at 02:18 AM

Hope the wife gets well soon, I wont be on the playa till Thursday,so hopefully I will see you there

Coolbreeze - 25-3-2011 at 07:41 PM

Finally ..... I'm here took a day and a half, one day shorter that I expected. I arrived around 3:00 and as I came over the hill from the south and the lake came into view I could barely make out the sails on the blow carts but didn't see any kites though. after checking in (which took forever) I took a drive out to the Playa. The wind was blowing about 15 mph, sun was shinning and all the blow cart guys where packing up all there gear. I stopped to talk to one of the guys there (didn't get his name ) he said the wind has been great. starting early in the morning and staying on all day unlike last year where the wind would wait till mid day to show up. He also said it's been really cold early in the day so bring your jackets. From what I understand tomorrow will be a quiet day on the lake being as alot of the Blow Carts will have left so I think I will head out and try to find my buggy under the mountain of gear in the back of the truck and get some seat time in.

Glad to finally be here after what seems like a year of talking about it. Now everyone else just needs to show up :bigok:

Cheers
CB

BeamerBob - 25-3-2011 at 07:52 PM

Glad you made it ok Coolbreeze. It was cool checking you progress on your trip. That's awesome that the wind is blowing throughout the day. Maybe we will be able to just wear out and have to stop instead of going till dark and not being finished yet.

arkay - 25-3-2011 at 08:08 PM

I have been watching the gps signal on your way down.
Amazing that you made it from Vancouver to Primm in only 33 hours.
See you in 48 hours.

csa_deadon - 26-3-2011 at 08:36 AM

After a brief chat with Rip, I found out who the winner was in the "How many tickets will Grant get this year." pool.

The winner was ............ Wait for it!

ME! With a guess of ZERO! Woop, Woop!
Rip said he will hand deliver my prize package to the playa.
Currently sitting at the Hwy 34/I-5 junction waiting on the balance of the NW wagon train to show.
