WBB Spring 2011 Kite and Buggy Raffle

shehatesmyhobbies - 28-3-2011 at 06:14 PM

O.K. so most of you have seen it, now you can WIN it!. I am excited to announce that the Kite buggy that many of you have watched being built by PKF member Van is going to be raffled off at the WBB Spring 2011 Event. This is a very gracious offer by Van.
[img][/img]

Peter Lynn is also going to donate a kite that is going to be raffled off at the same time. We will not know what that kite is for another week or so. It is being hand delivered to Adam when he gets to NABX.

Tickets are going to be $10 a piece, or buy 4 get one free. When you buy a ticket, you can win both prizes. If your ticket is pulled for the buggy, your ticket goes back in for a chance to win the kite as well.

East Coast Kite Sports wanted to find a way to give back to the great Wildwood Community in some way. Thanks to Peter Lynn, and Van from VTT, we can make that happen. After several attempts to find a great cause to make a donation to, Todd contacted Joe Catanosa, also know as Joecat here on PKF. Joe is a Wildwood police officer. Todd informed him of our intentions and Joe told him about the Wildwood Catholic High School and it's impending demise last summer. The Diocese was going to close the school, and not be open this past September. The Wildwood community came together and protested to keep the school open. Joe is very involved in the activities that are behind keeping the school open. He is also trying to start a Power Kite Club in the school. What a great opportunity to give to a great cause.

So when you get to Wildwood, see any one from the East Coast Kite Sports Team, (Rian, Myself, Todd, Donnie, Chad, Lee, or Crisi)and we will be sure to hook you up with some raffle tickets. You must be present to win. It will be raffled off after dinner Saturday at the BBQ.

Thanks for your time, and lets buy up some tickets for a great cause. Also for some really great prizes!

Rich

chudalicious - 28-3-2011 at 06:58 PM

Kewl stuff Rich! Some great gear and more importantly, a great cause.
We can't wait to see everyone there!

Oh and BTW, you guys ROCK :karate:

Jaymz - 28-3-2011 at 07:41 PM

Great raffles! I'm in for the cause. Our local Catholic Schools have lost nearly half of their enrollment in this economy and a few have closed or merged. Sad.
Thank you Van and PL for your generosity
And Joecat for his service helping the WW community.
WWBB gets better every event!

van - 28-3-2011 at 10:14 PM

I'm glad I can help. I've been in LA since saturday morning. Just got to Primm earlier this evening. Cant' wait to ride this week at NABX and then WBB.

rocfighter - 29-3-2011 at 05:26 AM

Saving my pennies...

rocfighter - 31-3-2011 at 05:20 AM

$10.00 a ticket. HMMmmmm how much $$ does one need to buy all the tickets? Man I wish I was a scarry as I look after work. I would just scare away all the other buyers!!! Good luck to every one on this awesome raffle.

shehatesmyhobbies - 31-3-2011 at 09:39 AM

Dave were you one of the lucky lottery winners up north? :puzzled:

It is going to be an awesome raffle!

rocfighter - 31-3-2011 at 04:57 PM

What lottery was that? I guess not :tumble:

van - 31-3-2011 at 10:45 PM

I've been testing the buggy in the pics above and one with a longer side rails. I've got a special seat and color scheme planned for the buggy that's gonna be raffled off. Testing is going well so far so the lucky winner will get a super fast and stable buggy. I will bring a set of short and long rails to the event so the winner will have a choice.

Can't wait to meet everyone!!!

shehatesmyhobbies - 1-4-2011 at 02:59 AM

Glad to hear it is testing well. See you in two weeks!

rocfighter - 1-4-2011 at 04:53 AM

Will you autograph it for the winner too? I'll bring a paint marker just in case I will

van - 9-4-2011 at 04:34 PM

I've been working on the buggy lately to give it a little BLING!!! So save up a little dough for a chance to get a customize buggy. It's for a good cause so come out and support WBB.

These panels will be part of the seats/rails for the raffled buggy.

bobalooie57 - 9-4-2011 at 04:39 PM

Man, that is sweet! I was thinking, If I really got that 7.5M Apex III for $5.00 plus shipping, I'd donate it for the raffle too! Even though it is a beautiful green!

shehatesmyhobbies - 9-4-2011 at 05:41 PM

ragden - 11-4-2011 at 07:46 AM

Very nice.... Looking forward to getting an opportunity to help support the local community.
:)

teklife - 12-4-2011 at 03:03 AM

the prizes are definitely great, but i would rather see the money raised go towards something like a library, or something that benefits the WHOLE community, rather than just catholics, or those privileged enough to go to a private school.

maybe even a food pantry, a salvation army, or anything that doesn't serve a very specific group of people.:puzzled:

Wow... I give up.

rocfighter - 12-4-2011 at 05:57 PM

Well it is a volanteer raffle. If you preffer than do a small donation to another group. No hard feelings. This was set up some time ago and as I learned in the islands, It is what it is.

shehatesmyhobbies - 12-4-2011 at 06:08 PM

Thanks for your support Dave!

Oh did I mention! ONLY 12 HOURS TILL I HEAD OUT:wee::wee::wee::wee::wee::wee::wee:

rocfighter - 13-4-2011 at 06:13 PM

Leaving tomorrow morning at 8am. Figure we will miss NYC traffic that way. But it never works!!Should be there in early afternoon.
Bringing a newbe to get some rides too. The Kidds half sister (or what ever is right) is coming as well.

shehatesmyhobbies - 13-4-2011 at 06:39 PM

Going to be light in the morning! Should be good after lunch! See you when you get here!

ripsessionkites - 14-4-2011 at 02:29 AM

Maybe he was hoping to donate to something more neutral.

Like how JIBE supports turtles.

Maybe next year something along the lines of our sport and the environment

All the best at the event.

Todd - 14-4-2011 at 04:22 AM

Proceeds were to be donated to the Wildwood beach restoration - no viable way to donate the money (environment) cross this one out.

Proceeds now being donated to a school with no funds to start up a power kiting club (sport)

bobalooie57 - 14-4-2011 at 04:33 AM

That's the way I read this from the beginning, and if it was Wildwood High School(or whatever their public school name is) there prolly wouldn't be any noise about this at all, well, except that maybe our tax dollars should fund powerkite clubs at schools across the USA. I guess it would be helpful to know that local kiter LBJ, or Joecat as known here, was consulted as to where the funds should go, and this being a near and dear issue to him, was his response. I like this raffle idea so much, that I would like to borrow it for our annual snowkite festival next year, and am thinking the proceeds could go to the local Ag Society Scolarship fund, as most of the properties we are able to ride in the winter are farm fields. Would anyone object to that idea? Your input is appreciated.

bobalooie57 - 14-4-2011 at 04:38 AM

Oh, BTW, I recently won an HQ Symphony 2-line foil on a bar from kiteline for an article I wrote, I've flown it once, just to see it in the air, I intend to donate it to Joecat for his Powerkite club, and would like to ask anyone with extra(I know, what's extra?) equipment to do the same.:singing:

edit: Oh, and I'm leaving now!! See Ya!:wee:

shehatesmyhobbies - 14-4-2011 at 04:48 AM

Sorry if I was not clear enough in the opening statement, Todd thanks for helping to clear this up.

Bob, see you when you get here!

joecat - 14-4-2011 at 06:26 PM

Hey Guys, Sorry to log in so late but I just found this post now. I work during the week and sometimes dont find enough time to check all the sites. Im hoping to hit the beach tomorrow with you guys, (friday). Getting done work about 1pm and hope to come right down. As far as the donation with the raffle, its awesome that the club is donating to the soon to be formed WCHS PowerKiteClub! Ive set up an email address wchspowerkiteclub@gmail.com Its true that the children that attend our school are priveleged, but thats not always because they have alot of money, its quite the opposite in a fair amount of cases. A new group of people have taken over the day to day operations and a new group of school board members have taken over, which I am one of. We have been reaching out to all kids throughout the county to help those who cant afford the tuition and making sure they get some type of assistance. One of the things that I have pushed is to make the school more attractive with things to do. I have watched this buggy bash grow from just about 30 members to the great event that it has become with the help of all you guys, and gals. The powerkite sport is really new to the Wildwoods, and this kind of promotion is awesome. The kids are going to love this.....I always say: What kid would not like a giant skateboard that is pulled along the beach by a giant kite? Thanks again,,,,on behave of Wildwood Catholic High School, the kids and the community. see ya down there. if you want to follow some of the happenings at the school check out our website www.wildwoodcatholic.org and also our facebook page: "keep wildwood catholic high school alive" i have posted alot of our buggy videos on the facebook page,,,people love them.

It will be nice to see you Joe. You have to come up to the hotel and check out the buggy for yourself. It is vantastic. I will put some pics up in the morning. See you on the beach!

shehatesmyhobbies - 17-4-2011 at 02:34 PM

I must say thanks again to all those that donated items for the raffle. Van from VTT , Peter Lynn, HQ Kites, Off the Chain Bikes, Todd , Chuddy and Anderson ! What a great bunch of people we had gathered for the WBB Spring 2011 event.

I must also thank again all those that bought raffle tickets to make this a success. Also thanks all those that donated personal trainer kites directly to the Power Kite Club. All of you are amazing!

Till the next time folks! Sending great winds your way!
