How long has it been?

Cheddarhead - 7-4-2011 at 04:00 PM

Just interested to know how long some of you have gone without kiting. I know it sounds like some kind of rehab group, but really, anybody have any long dry spells where you just couldn't get out for awhile.

Personally, the longest break in my kiting career has been two months and it seemed like f o r e v e r!!!!

It has been several weeks for me now. Between weather and work and being under the weather. But Sunday rehab starts!!
Connectikiters monthly fly. They all get there feathers ruffled when I take out the foils!!

I rode last October both on water and beach and then nothing at all till nabx. That just can't be. I hope moving to Nevada shortens the dry spells.

I'm just now coming off an almost 9 month dry spell...

Bob,

I think moving to Nevada will actually increase the dry spells since your so close to the playa'. Better invest in a bigger kite duster. :D

i was out today with the 12m frenzy--it had been a week because of crazy work hours.....id like to get out every day like i used to......at one point, i had over 150 hours logged in a month when i was fairly new at this---now i dont fly nearly that much--but a few more days would be nice.......

Ill second that............since I started flying in 2006, the longest dry spell was 3 1/2 weeks while I was in the hospital this Feb followed by my first week of chemo the first week of March..............

Tridude,

That's really impressive considering what your going thru. Hang in there man.

Last summer was tough on my kite-career. We had a PILE of renos going on here and the kites got all packed away. I managed to sneak out to the water a few times (three I think) but other than that - barely at all. Lucky for me the renos were prefaced by NABX 2010. It was a long, hard summer but it's over now so I'm planning on dragging the family to the lake every chance I get this summer.

Looking forward to dropping the buggy from the rafters too - haven't been in it since NABX (2010).

AJ, I'll be jealous of your wet and sandy and you can be jealous of my dry and dusty. Deal? I'll certainly hold up my end of the deal............... Except maybe when I can put a coat on and buggy in the winter when you post pics of 6" of snow on the kite launch area!:yes:;-)

stetson05 - 8-4-2011 at 08:55 AM

Since March 12th when I broke my tailbone on impact. Before that, about 10 days when there isn't any wind. It has been windy almost every day since and it is killing me. I am kinda thinking about trying today though.

rocfighter - 8-4-2011 at 10:11 AM

Man I hope they got your tail bone set right. Mine is very crocked from a break when I was 17. Still not comfortable to sit on hard surfaces. Let's see that was almost 30 years ago!!

They left the tailbone alone, wasn't very crooked, I am getting used to it, turns out sitting in a buggy doesn't hurt, It was the 18x6x3.5cm hematoma that is still there that has kept me from kiting.

That has ended though today as I hooked up to my 11m Neo and buggied about 50 yards til the wind died. At least I got out though!
