Van eats playa dirt

van - 7-4-2011 at 05:10 PM

Well .. the dutch guys weren't the only ones on Arcs that were being toss around on saturday morning ... hahaa...

Here's what was caught on my Gopro. If you noticed on the last split second, the camera broke off and you can actually see me facing it on the ground.

A big thank you to ALL of you that ran over to help with me and my out of control kite. And especially the ones that pat me on the back (the bruised part :shocked2: ) later in the day :P

Wow, all I did was roll over on soft, loose sand. I had to have surgery. You are very lucky Bro', that could have been much worse. Take it easy until I see ya at WWBB.

Hey you almost got a good look at me and my son watching the whole thing play out! I thought for a sec you were gonna save it.

:o Why is it that you had to let go of the bar?

You sure did get some skoolin' this year! :bigok:

van - 7-4-2011 at 05:43 PM

I let go of the bar so I can push my self out of the buggy. I was actually standing up when the kite fell. I looked up and knew I needed to grab the bar.

I was trying to save it but you can see that the bar was out of reach. This bar was from my 15m phantom . I didn't have one for my 10m Scorpion. The bar was fully depowered and I still couldn't reach the bar. I think I need extensions on my brake lines for this kite. I tried to grab the bar when the gust hit and push the kite toward the left. Before I knew it, I was being pulled forward and toward the ground. I knew I was gonna hit so tuck my head and roll. The only impact point was my camera, my right shoulder and a little bit of my ribs below my armpit ( no clue how that part touch the ground).

What a ride! At least the sand will be a little softer for an OBE at WW! Glad you are o.k.! See you in a week!

Van, glad nothing is broke. That one had potential. The video doesn't get the sound of your head impacting, well not like we heard it.
Poor Van must have thought he had brought his mom to the playa with the way I was hovering over him for a few hours after.
I tell ya, I came to ride not work. You and Stephen are killing me!
Glad the body is not broken.

Thanks for the ice pack. Really help numb the pain. Almost back to 100%. Will be doing a little kiting here at WBB tomorrow.
