New buggy seat design!!

van - 11-4-2011 at 09:13 PM

I've been trying to design a seat that was easy to sew, package, ship, store , etc....

It is flat until you put it together. This makes it alot easier to make. The 2" velcro is very strong and also has support from the back strap. A couple different velcro design will be tested at WBB this coming weekend. This seat below will be part of the buggy that will be raffled.

The winner will be the first to have this cool folding seat :singing:

BTW .. new buggy will be named "Black Widow"

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh my!

I like the hole in the seat,

cheezycheese - 11-4-2011 at 09:31 PM

Van, that's friggin sweet...:eekdrull:

bobalooie57 - 11-4-2011 at 09:46 PM

Very nice work, Van. Someone is going to win a really nice ride! Really great of you to do this.

flexiblade - 11-4-2011 at 09:59 PM

We may have to start a Van fan site here soon. I mean right out of the gate you produce some pretty nice rides and in short order to boot. Next you amaze us with a gaggle of engineering porn, aka your garage. Now you have managed to corner the market on stitching mastery. What's next a solar sailer kite buggy that goes to Mars? Seriously though - very nice work - you are a renaissance man in the world of buggies.

Kamikuza - 11-4-2011 at 10:07 PM

VERY nice!

van - 11-4-2011 at 10:18 PM

Jeff, the hole was just for you  I wasn't sure how much gas you need to pass so I figure ONE 1/2" hole for now. I can can add up to 5 for those refried bean days.

Seriously .. I'm gonna bring my grommet kit with me to WBB incase the winner wants extra holes in the seat. Just like donuts, you will have to pay extra to get the holes. :singing:

van - 11-4-2011 at 10:21 PM

Flexi .. I am working on a solar powered buggy bag to house / charge your Ipod and keep a six pack cool :eekdrull:

flexiblade - 11-4-2011 at 10:50 PM

Does it also inflate so you can use it as pontoon - instant kite cat?

BeamerBob - 11-4-2011 at 11:53 PM

Nice work Van. You have moved past the basic garage builder and are entering that small band of elite builders. You could already market your seats alone. It is going to be amazing to see what the next big thing is from you.

shehatesmyhobbies - 12-4-2011 at 03:45 AM

I can not wait to see this buggy all put together. Van this is awesome work.

rocfighter - 12-4-2011 at 04:28 AM

I figured the hole was for when the winner got going to fast and peed him/her self!!
Van do you mind us taking crap loads of pics of this seat so we can make one?

popeyethewelder - 12-4-2011 at 04:49 AM

Lovely work again van

snowspider - 12-4-2011 at 04:52 AM

NICE , you have very keen spider senses.

van - 12-4-2011 at 07:14 AM

hahaha .. thanks for the nice comments ... The PEE hole is a little more forward positioned.

Roc, yes .. you can take pics and if you need help with measurements .. let me know. Get with me at WBB and I can show you how it's made.

I am offering to make seats for anyone that is looking for one. Once you find out how cheap I'm selling them for, you won't want to make it yourself. If you want to make your own, just send me a U2U and I can get you started. It does require a heavy duty sewing machine since some parts goes through 4 layers of 18oz PVC. You'll need minimum a size 16 needle due to the size of the thread. If you use one of those plastic casing type sewing machine they sell at Wal-Mart, it will be a disposable machine soon ...

flexi .. air bag ..now that's an idea!! don't get me started!!! air bag lumbar support :singing:

popeyethewelder - 12-4-2011 at 12:07 PM

You have a huge market in the USA for those seats....the US version of Buggybags, good luck Van

van - 12-4-2011 at 02:53 PM

PTW .. thanks .. I just might do that. Not really in it to make a buck but I've been talking to my little sister about it. She's actually between jobs so she might just take on that task full time. I'm more of a buggy builder guy. Unless I move the sewing machine out to the garage or start building metal seats, I'm gonna try to convince her to do most of the sewing. In the meantime, I don't mind making a couple of seats here and there for PKF members on this side of the pond that needs a seat.

DAKITEZ - 12-4-2011 at 03:03 PM

What buggy is this seat designed to fit? I understand it is made for your custom buggy but does it fit another buggy as well?

:bigok: Again, can't wait to get there and meetup with all my buggy buddies!

stetson05 - 13-4-2011 at 08:25 PM

I would be interested in a seat and a bag for the back. :eureka: I have to replace mine soon but I am not really sure what measurements you might need. Just lengths or angles too. What format is your embroidery machine? My wife has one with about 10000 designs that is a brother.

van - 14-4-2011 at 07:19 PM

Its a brother se400 using PES format. I can send you what to measure

vwbrian - 16-4-2011 at 03:41 AM

I am going to need a seat also.
And thank you for letting me test ride your buggy for 3 days at NABX.
