you might look into a lightwave wing instead... a bit closer to your pricepoint and still a good board... cabrinha plasma is also good... lotsa boards
on ebay right now

There's a bunch of Flydoors over on the kiteforum.com second hand page and even flysurfer.com has some used ones.
IMHO stick with the 2009 on board - wood core is much stronger.
kiteboarding.com has a sale on the Plasma IIRC too

Would getting a brand new spleene door for $550 be worth it? I found one on clearance on a site.

If it's 2010+ then it's not a bad price - Cab Plasma I guess? You'll keep it a while as you're learning and it'll be your lightwind board unless you
want to get into directionals ... I keep trying my shorter boards and bloody hate them 
I'm going to try a North thingy tomorrow that supposed to be a 135cm lightwind board but I'll probably hate that too :D
