First Kiteloop

Houston AirHead - 30-4-2011 at 02:17 PM

Edit: the location was the Levee @ Texas City, Texas.

i wanted to quickly share my first loop story.
being fully powered up on my 12 LF havoc/25m lines...
20mph wind....

i boost a solid 40 foot floater.

for some reason, I’m not sure if it was the fact of being overly exhausted from the sun or if i was just thinking out of my mind, but as i was coming down i couldn’t decide which way to re-direct.....
…….

Almost like when you come to a yellow light at about 40 mph and for a split second you think you are going to stop, but you actually end up blowing right through it not giving a damn.

For some reason I decided to loop, I did not stick the landing BUT I finally figured out how it’s done,

I smacked the water pretty good too, before skipping across like a flat stone across a pond. My legs are a bit sore.

Long story short… I waited too long to loop, if I would have looped at the climax of the jump I would have most likely stuck the landing.

I wasn't sure what you were up to until I saw you skipping across the water like a stone .. thought you were nuts ..hahaha .. Those were some good winds out there though. Wish my water skills were there so I can enjoy it. Still just trying to keep afloat.

HAHA!

yeah was a great time, i think its best to go on a week day, it might be less crowded. it was pretty choppy water too.

no worries, thats one of the greatest things about kiting, it seems theres a really fast learning curve.

my guess is next time you will be able to keep up wind really well.

Drew,

I dont loop often, but my son will be there and can show you how..............he has a serious skill set and kite loops alot.......
Keep your eye on NFLeech and Phreerider, both are excellent riders.....................

way to go Houston, big boost with a kite loop:thumbup:

PHREERIDER - 30-4-2011 at 08:36 PM

beautiful, very nice . adds to the flow with power! and balance .

adds a mountain of light to medium wind moves with apex boost! esp in wave action. i love wave ramp boost sessions!

in heavy air i add as needed but very selective .

I have yet to do an ariel loop. I can loop my 13m Venom on the ground pretty easily, it's just too slow to do it in a lot of wind. I haven't yet looped my 16m Scorpion. I think if I get a big enough jump on the Scorpion, I'll see if I can do it in midair. I'm not exactly sure what looping a kite in the air does for you, but I suppose there's only one way to find out.
