Odd Q?

What is your favorite classical song?

Mine, hands down, is Moonlight Sonata! Such an impressive, and beautiful, simply amazing song!

My question, what is your favorite classical song? The song that always engulfs you, pulls you in, almost brings tears to your eyes.... The song you listen to when you are happy, sad, angry.... The song that is you?

Rhapsody in Blue / Gershwin

It's my goal to burn that one into memory on the piano so that I can bust it out wherever I see grand pianos in public spaces (have YEARS of practice to go).

Well it's got a piano in it. And I'm sure some of these boys have played classical music. But this is as close to classical as I get. It's definitely a CLASSIC !!

Probably cliche' but Ravel's "Bolero"... And also "Rhapsody in Blue" but I guess that might be considered jazz/big band...

Mine is a mix of Rock and Opera, Barsalona by Queen and an opera singer whome I can't remember her name

Gotta be Pachelbel's Canon in D. Kansas is always a great choice too.:P

Beethoven's 9th, Grieg's Hall of the Mountain King, Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries, Gerswhin's Rapshody in Blue, Iron Maiden's Phantom of the Opera.

At least those are the one's that come immediately to mind.

I like Apocolyptica's rendition of Hall of the Mountain King.

Man, that's gotta be one of the main reasons I love this forum so much. I learn so much from other peoples experience. I seriously doubt if I would have ever heard that rendition of the Hall of the Mountain King, but I've got to say I thought it was amazing! +1 for that!

Chopin nocturnes are all pretty amazing. Buuut, I have to say, in terms of simplicity and beauty, one would be troubled to find anything better than Mozart's "eine kleine nachtmusik".

Other than that, some of my favorites include :
Ravel's sonatine
Lizst's gnomenreigen
Debussy's Claire de lune

Etc. Etc.

Not classical - but a song that always gets me nonetheless

Something about Bachs fugues gets me lost in the ozone.
