Also seems to be popular with a harness:

Same crew, slightly different edits.

Depending on where you live, I expect the local constabulary would look on this with varying degrees of displeasure and eye-rolling.

Of course, they might also just appreciate a swinging target. Certainly always adds a degree of difficulty to knifethrowing :o

yes i have a set up. its fun.

i have a bar handle and hook. it helps everything grip strength, core , hip flexer.

it will help rotational timing and body position, hand position, bar control, i think its excellent. inverted stuff is very difficult. the bigger the swing outs gives more time and momentum and feels the same.

a static tramp with handle is a great modality for kiting water or land esp. unhooked, the swing is better for hooked stuff. about 20min. each after and hour your blown out!

a regular skate board with straps is much lighter and easier to start.

my wife came out and took some pics i'll see if she transferred them.

I've definatly considered this for technical riding. Before you take your tricks from the rope to the kite there's two really important things that have to be learned. First you need to learn how to get height and then stability. I learned height first and stability second. I do not recomend it that way! Lol. It's fun to go high but getting whippe into the air without good control can get you wrecked

Could be even better if that rope was a big bungee???

Are you still planning on a jumping video in the future????

flyjump - 6-5-2011 at 06:50 AM

Shaggs do you mean a jumping tutorial?

shaggs2riches - 6-5-2011 at 07:00 AM

yeah you mentioned that you were, so just curious if that was still in your plans????

flyjump - 6-5-2011 at 07:15 AM

Yeah it's still a part of the plan. I didn't have access to a video camera , but my best friend just moved back to town and he brought his gopro, so that will be coming soon. I actually don't even have anything on video. I need to work on getting a tricks video done for my profile on the pl website. Any suggestions of other tutorials you would like me to do?

shaggs2riches - 6-5-2011 at 07:32 AM

I just want to figure out the controlled jumping thing. I get it occasionally, but other times the kite goes behind me and falls from the sky. Happens when static jumping too. Good thing I'm staying in light winds (maybe too light???) getting 3-5 feet on average, using my 12m speed2 in bout 20km/h winds. I wanna go high, but like you pointed out, not till I learn the control first. Sorry for the highjack.

no bungee! won't work. gotta be rigid.

and you definitely have to have control of the kite FIRST! super strong, stable and balanced. without it you will be SLAMMED! the faster the kite action, the faster the trick has to be. big float, kite right over your head, like the swing and all comes out smooth.

flyjump - 6-5-2011 at 07:57 AM

Dude it's no problem. I want to help. Bigger kites are much nicer for float and will make you feel more control.

PHREERIDER - 6-5-2011 at 09:54 AM

A bunge could work . tediuos weight tuned. basic swing tree style .tiny bounce .more like kite.

shaggs2riches - 6-5-2011 at 10:07 AM

There was a video I saw a while back where a guy ran the rope through a pulley and then tied it to a heavy bag or something. I think that he had the bag 30lbs lighter than him to give him a floaty type drop. Kinda like those bungee trampoline setups without all the limited movement. Surprised a big company hasn't designed some sort of training machine that simulates kiting in a controlled environment.

PHREERIDER - 6-5-2011 at 11:54 AM

tramp is great trainer and work out. most gymnastics folks could hook up an aerial body control lesson that really can progress you into a "less injury potential" unhooked level.

a seat hooked on a swing with the bar, swinging with your board , with centered flat spot for line runs, into pop/swingouts and return landings.

suspended human products = potential sudden deceleration....injury or death may occur. real life has no restart button.
