bigkid - 7-5-2011 at 09:34 PM

As it says above.
At Twin Firs Turf Farm, Quincy, WA,(it's in the middle of the state) Memorial Day Weekend.
Kite flying of all types and for NAPKA members 3 days of bugging on grass:wow:
Flash will be there to help out beginners and show off her line of HQ Kites, FlexBoardz will be available for use, and there will be Powered Parachutes, you can go on a ride if you so desire.
If you need kites, foils, ATB's or even buggies, we will have a lot to choose from.
Windless kite flying will be demonstrated at the event also.

stetson05 - 8-5-2011 at 08:13 PM

I am trying to make it and will see if I can get any of the local guys to go too. I could use some help from the NAPKA guru's on getting the paperwork done.

bigkid - 8-5-2011 at 08:46 PM

Hey, Sunset Jim, can you help out?

Morrie Williams - 9-5-2011 at 06:09 AM

What paperwork are you having problems with? If it's insurance, Evans has probably filled out the most then possibly Brad.

Good point, I just need to know where to get the form and who to send it too.

fletcht - 9-5-2011 at 09:25 AM

Gabe, Contact Angus at Coastal Wind Sports, he is the new insurance guy. He can contact our insurance provider and have a certificate of insurance faxed naming the Turf farm as additionally insured for this event. This can then be faxed to him, or to Jeff, or both. or to you whomever you wish. You will need the name and address of the Turf Farm for the certificate. It would be good for both the Turf farm and Jeff to have a copy in their possession.

and Roll

Hope to see you at the Sod Farm
Jeff, are we going to be out on the South 40 or 80 again?

bigkid - 9-5-2011 at 10:47 PM

Yep, got to keep the buggiers away from the general public. You guys are a bad influence:lol:
The areas of use have changed a bit this year, but don't worry, will be lots of room to play.

acartier1981 - 14-5-2011 at 09:20 AM

I'm going to try to make it out one day. Do you have to have to be a NAPKA member to board or just buggy?

stetson05 - 14-5-2011 at 11:57 AM

I think if you do anything more than fly a kite you have to have the insurance and NAPKA provides that.

Leojim - 14-5-2011 at 01:28 PM

Plan on making it up for at least one day. Although I excell at standing around looking stupid, I'd rather buggy. Thus I am now NAPKA US77. :singing:
bigkid: I recall (hopefully correctly) that you were working on some QR for a strop? Hopefully you will have that with you at Quincy. Would like to check it out.

flash - 14-5-2011 at 04:10 PM

No sun bathing in the back yard, even if the fence is 6' tall;)

flash - 15-5-2011 at 02:23 PM

what if there is no fence? I mean... i have a wicked set of tan lines I need to get rid of, haven't you seen how I look AFTER this winter AND NABX? lol

acartier1981 - 16-5-2011 at 10:30 AM

Well I am finally registered with NAPKA so hopefully all should be well :)

stetson05 - 16-5-2011 at 06:51 PM

I have been approved for one day for sure. I will have to look at the forecast to decide, but I hope the first day looks good cause that improves my chances of being able to come back :eureka::D Looking forward to it!

flash - 24-5-2011 at 09:32 PM

Just a lame attempt at humor.

Isn't that what conference calls are for?
You can use my laptop to skype if that would help.

flash - 26-5-2011 at 09:08 AM

and i am a firm believer in the boot-to-butt-assuage-with-beer school of therapy. And if your only symptoms that you are crazy is that you fly kites... well sorry buddy, you are too far gone for me. Can't cure you, you're bonafide screwed.

whos teach who to fly???

i just recalled an event this past weekend and i nailed down some miles. wait for the video.

Dino you should come up ... you need the practice. a few hours more and you can see my backyard. ill show you 30km/h or less riding speed "Grasshopper", only than you would be prepared for NABX 2012 to hit 100km/h.

:P

OK, I make a lame attempt at humor and now your getting corny with me!
As for therapy, Gabe (stetson05) and I will be carpooling. After 2 hrs driving, he's likely the one who will need therapy!! I pity the foo.

stetson05 - 27-5-2011 at 12:03 AM

yup be there saturday for sure.

fletcht - 28-5-2011 at 09:49 PM

Winds were fair to good all day. Powered guys weren't flying. 10m most of the day. About 45 minutes with my 4.5 . Just before sunset to well after things just got sweet. I wish I had lights I would still be out there. Tomorrow am looks to be more of the same. No crabs, no crowds, just lots of grass excuse me sod.

bigkid - 28-5-2011 at 10:16 PM

Wow, Looks like it was a great day at the sodfarm, oh yah, it was good alright.
Flash watched the grandkids most of the day and fletcht and stedson with leojim played well together out in the back 80. I smoozed with all the visiters and ended the day watching a movie on the tent wall and eating popcorn. To much wine and its off to sleep.
See you all in the morning, weather looks good for another day in the windy sun at the sodfarm. nighty night

stetson05 - 29-5-2011 at 11:08 AM

Put some miles on yesterday :spin: I really enjoyed that. Thanks to Big Kid Kites for the festival and HQ kites and flash for letting me try some out. The surface was really nice and easy to roll with minimal ruts from the irrigation. Almost as nice as hardpack sand and about 4 hours less of a drive. Well worth it! I might be back on Monday if the forecast looks good.

fletcht - 29-5-2011 at 07:15 PM

Yes, thanks to Jeff and Big Kid Kites for organizing, also to the owners of the turf farm.
Had a good half day of flying started at 6:30 low tide actually when I finished breakfast, it took awhile for the winds to decide whether it was going to be a 3m or a 6m but finally settled in. Had two kites out and ready at all times. Left around noon. Great weekend lots of miles. Didn't see a shipwreck but did navigate around huge sprinkler systems. Gotta love it.

fletcht - 29-5-2011 at 07:17 PM

One more, Jeff keep at it, your grand kids will man the shop and you can fly. Great seeing them out there flying and learning.

bigkid - 29-5-2011 at 08:09 PM

OK, you all left a bit early today. winds are 12 to 15 out of the north and I got the whole place to myself, neenernernerneeener.
Blokarting with the duece bar and both grandkids in the back kart, getting rather good at 2 wheeling the blokart. The powered parachuters left early because of the high wind so that opened up the entire area to me me me me.
Pizza and beer again tonight, grand kids are watching a movie and I don't care. One more day left to play. why am I telling you all? Cause I'm here and you arn't, Ha Ha Ha
To much to eat and drink and much bugging in the AM, Night Night all.

Leojim - 29-5-2011 at 08:38 PM

Yes, I agree with all. A great time was had by all. Stetson05 and I will be back up again tomorrow by about 10:00. Keep your fingers crossed for some more good winds, and Jeff, please sacrifice some beer and pizza to the wind gods for us

fletcht - 29-5-2011 at 09:23 PM

I'm pleased, hope the winds hold for another day. I got some good runs in so I am not disappointed. I'm tired, I won't be awakened by the wind in the morning. I won't have to gulp down my coffee to get out and ride. So enjoy yourself. Stetson, and LeoJim if you make it back have fun. See you all next time.

bigkid - 30-5-2011 at 06:15 AM

Flash, You rock! Anyone who has the knowledge and the ability (and patience) to teach morons how to fly along with the 8 year old with ADD, up to the old and frail, has my respect and admiration.
It's one thing to be smart and knowledgeable, but no one is as good a teacher as Nic.

My grandsons only came to this festival because Nic was coming, (She's great!).

Hope you plan a return trip next year, maybe the boys will bring you flowers this time, and goodies for Rose. ;)

Bladerunner - 30-5-2011 at 06:27 AM

Way to go BigKid!

I wonder. Is this fellow with the sod farm open to visitors with NAPKA insurance ? Or is this just for the annual events? We would gladly continue to teach Him buy him a bottle ...

flash - 30-5-2011 at 09:09 AM

ahhhh thanks guys, you know I just love having fun and getting everyone to fly. It was awesome, and kiting the sod farm is always one of the coolest experiences of my flying life. The surface is so unreal, like miles of green dense close cropped velvet. I couldn't help flying, even when they had to turn on the big sprinklers.

Btw, I don't think I have ever done a slalom course around sprinklers spaced 10 feet apart in a buggy in gusty wind. Might have to had that to the race format docket for future events. Upwinding through it wasn't as much fun lol, the guys that were on the back 80 know exactly what I am talking about :)

ps. Big Kid, I will always play with your grandkids, they are pretty cool... :)

depowerman - 30-5-2011 at 10:15 AM

We were there. The wind made frequent appearances. Jim and I were rocking the 11m Neo's and still got some miles on. Problem is that we were not on PKF to know you wanted to come.

U2U sent with contact info.

Leojim - 31-5-2011 at 11:44 AM

Like Gabe said, "The wind made frequent appearances" LOL. Made for a pretty decient day and sure beat doing yard work!!
Also as Gabe mentioned....the 11m Neo's, -- Much thanks to Flash :saint: for letting Gabe have the Neo 2 for a spell to try out. I had a great time with it. I'm sure Gabe will get a chance also...if I don't show up

Will post some vids in the near future.

Thanks to all who made it happen and a special thanks to Jeff for his part. Glad you got to get some play time in between the work part Jeff.

Leojim - 2-6-2011 at 12:00 PM

Well here are a couple of vids of Gabe and I buggying on Monday.

Here's Gabe with his 19m Flysurfer:

Here's me using the 11m Neo 2 that Flash let Gabe tryout for a while:

flash - 25-6-2011 at 07:18 PM

Hey Leojim, Can you have Gabe give me a shout either u2u on here or via my email? Just want to see how that neo is treating him and make arrangements for the return :)
