Cool you found a new flying buddy! Lucky you!

Bladerunner - 12-5-2011 at 05:48 PM

See , this is why you don't have any friends !

You come accross as far too needy and scare the poor Mantas guys away !

Try and appear more self confident and interesting. Try to avoid bragging about your big quiver until at least the second session.

Keep trying , You'll hook a kiting buddy yet ! :smug:

The chicks are all over his massive quiver :o

Wish I could have the same luck! (In finding a kite buddy, I mean  )

We're such a rare breed here I had to go say hi but it was CRAZY windy here today so it was a hard introduction. I lost my grip on the kite and he went for a ride. I felt sooooo bad. He had loads of downwind (thank God) and only went for a drag, not a loft but damn......he musta pooped his pants - I woulda. I told him to come here and to meet me out there at 6 or so tomorrow when the winds are to be a bit saner and we can get that Manta cranking.

40km gusting to 60 at one point I saw today. Not a good day for a new kite. Hopefully he comes out tomorrow (I wanna try the Manta ; )

Back and it almost seems we never left already. Sad, sad.

You had the land sailers out yet? I was crazy tempted to hop in a Hobie down south on the "not enough to kite" days but held off. The club up here is meeting up on the 28th so I'll get the dirt on the new cabin at Hastings Lake and the new Hobie Wave which should be here now. Gonna head to Miquelon tomorrow for a drive to find out about reservations and all that jazz and dip my little toe in the water to see how cold it is. Rumour has it guys are riding Cooking and Pigeon already (Wednesday).

i'm sure derek and james are booking may 24 long weekend and i think it's at miquelon.
i had the landsailer out two weekends ago but was not enough wind for landsailer fun so i buggied a bit until i got sucked out (OBE) and called it a day. barely got chance to shake buggy rust off.

Had the XR down from the garage roof today with the Cent 1.8. Wow. That "little" kite is a mother! It was WAYYYYY set up wrong (hadn't flown it since purchase) but once set right aye yi yi that thing was powerful. Of course we were playing in winds at 40km gusting to 60......the Hornet 1.5 lofted my friend's son. Scary but thankfully nobody got hurt. Definitely a respect the wind kinda day here.

Gonna take the drive out to Miquelon tomorrow for a look see. The local forum says the ice is almost all off except the odd sheet. They were riding Cooking Today again and a crew was out to Coal Lake. Might need to invest in a drysuit.....

dirtslide - 14-5-2011 at 08:29 PM

did you get any kiting in while away Mac or was it a no fly zone holiday:D.good to here you are getting big wind Kelly. cheers

macboy - 14-5-2011 at 08:57 PM

Yup. Hit it on the water and got meself some switch skills! :D

Now if the water around here wasn't so freaking cold and the wind would come from the RIGHT direction I'd be keepin' on that learning curve.......
