Power Kite Forum

a new guy

Hey all,

I am relatively new to traction kiting. Started kiteboarding (snowboard) this winter and am waiting for the Canadian lakes to get warmer to try the water. Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to all. I have got lots of good info and ideas from the forum, but thought it was finally time to open an account and get involved. So far I have found the kite-community a very friendly and helpful bunch.

I currently own an 8m Cabrihna Switchblade and a couple of stunt kites. I am building a 2m NPW9b (about 70% done) with plans to make a 6m. I am also on the lookout for a decent 2nd hand 11-13m LEI. I'd like to get a Mountain board or a buggy one day, but haven't seen any shops in the area... will keep looking.

I live near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and there always seems to be wind!

Anywho, that's me. Looking forward to getting to know some of you all.

Cheers,

Dave

Welcome Dave! We keep getting more prairie kiters and before you know it we'll be a crew big enough to edge out the BC gang ; )

Welcome. Glad to have you here. Hold on to your seat. And your wallet. This affliction turns into an addiction!

Welcome. I'm a transplanted Albertan. Not many , if any folks on here from SasS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K- but you have come to the right place to ask questions . I find it amazing there isn't a kite community in SasS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K- Snowkite at least!

Twin skin arcs and flysurfer are 2 popular kites with Albertans / Prarrie folks . Both are closed cell so good for land or lake. Arcs are great gust munchers. The Flysurfer Pulse is a great all round kite to watch out for as well. They have been selling at some good prices .

Welcome Dave,

I'm one of the few from good ole Saskatchewan. I guess a little ways from you though. Although, you do have a more reliable wind forecast than I do that's for sure. Saskatoon has a fairly large following of kiters. If you get out there go see John at Escape Sports he's an authorized ozone and flysurfer dealer and one friendly fellow. Definitely get out and check out the windscape kite festival in swift current next month. Not sure bout powerkites, but lots of stunt kites and everything in between.

Yes I am planning to go to the Swift festival. My son will love it. He's 20 months and always says... "Daddy, fly kite, crash!" Do you know of any dealers in SK that sell mountain boards?
