Bamboo boards out there?

Bambooben - 16-5-2011 at 02:05 PM

As my tag says, I'm a bit partial towards bamboo, and was wondering if anyone has seen/used any bamboo boards. Could be either ATB or Surf. I have done some googling and didn't find what I was looking for, so any suggestions or links would be awesome. I did find one water board, but it was for sale in China and you had to order 250. I know F-One makes a custom board (http://en.f-onekites.com/), but not what I'm looking for. Their SUP boards are pretty sweet though.

Anyway, just throwing it out there if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!

I just picked up a 2011 5'8 North WAM with Bambootec in Hatteras. Sweet ride and a work of art. http://www.bigwinds.com/kite/category/46/product/1568

I have made 2 sets of bamboo handles using solid bamboo flooring as my starting "lumber". It would possible to make a board if you found a bamboo plywood supply.

Yeah, I was considering making my own because I do know some places to order plyboo.

And zero, I have seen those as well, and wow, they are like fine art to me. But I'm really looking for a twin tip if I can find one.

I do believe the Slingshot Surf I was drooling over was bamboo based?

Sorry if a mod thought this was posted in the wrong section and moved it.
I posted in general because I am looking for all kinds of boards, not just water boards. If I can find a good ATB board I would be interested in buying it and figured many land folks wouldn't see a post in this forum.

What are the chances of converting a board like this into an ATB?

I wish the bottom looked as good as the top.
Maybe I just need to hit up Arbor and convince them to start selling ATB.

There's a few of them around, but I can't remember brands cos I think they were directionals ... bamboo would be a great material though - which makes you wonder why pauwalina whatever wood is so popular in TTs ...?

I think you could convert it. you probably just need new trucks, wheels, and bindings then you could be set. You might not even need the bindings. My buddy rides without them and I tried it on the flexboard which worked fine. Tough to jump without them though.

Our local board manufacturer has a whole line of Bamboo boards.

I just bought a switch but not in Bamboo.

WELDNGOD - 29-11-2011 at 06:00 PM

@BR you should have got the switchblade. It is a badass board, but your switch is just a smaller ,slightly different model. The switch blade has the double drop thru design ,the only con is ,w/ 76mm monster hawgs on it ,you get wheel bite when you turn hard n tight. Enjoy, I LOVE MY LANDYACHTZ ! Hijack over ,we now resume your normal broadcast.

Thanks WG

Nice visiting the factory shop. Got to try everything. I went for the smaller Switch 37. I will use it strictly with the big stick. Although Airin is pushing me to work on slides. I'm only 5'7" and find that I can lock in with a perfect stance with the shorter board. It doesn't feel like too much a stretch from my mountian board.

This board with more mature graphics. + Monster Hawg wheels.

Hey Kitemare, those SU-2s look awesome. I think I'm gonna have to invest in the future. You ridden one?
