FS/Trade Flexifoil 2 line bar, lines, killer

opie - 25-5-2011 at 01:20 PM

I have a 2 line bar, lines and killer from a 1.2m Sting Id like to trade for a set of lines and handles. The lines are 59' long and rated at 220#. I bought the kite here and I believe it was new, or nearly new. Ive only flown it with the bar once and since have been using another set of lines. But I would like to get a dedicated set of lines for this kite.

If anyone is interested, Ill get pics up.

This is just for the bar, lines and single kite killer. Kite not included.

You might want to break out the kite and double check it.

From memory, this is the info I had on the Sting II (which I assume this is).

Dual Line on a Bar
Sting II 1.2, 1.7 or 2.4 in a long sling bag.
Quad Line on Handles
Sting II 1.2, 1.7, 2.4 or 3.3 in a short sling bag.
The quad-line Stings could be converted to a bar (like the Flexifoil Traction Lite Bar)

However, the dual-line Stings could only be flown on the dual-line bar that came with it (or similar), Lite Wrist Straps, Padded Wrist Straps, or Contoured Wrist Straps.

The dual-line Stings could not be flown on handles, because the canopy does not have brake line leaders on it.

Sorry to be a wet blanket.

  • 2x 18M/59ft 100kg/220lbs (Power Lines)
  • Basic Bar
  • Kite Killer (1)

Quad Line on Handles
Sting II 1.2, 1.7, 2.4 or 3.3 in a short sling bag.
  • 2x 18M/59ft 100kg/220lbs (Power Lines)
  • 2x 18M/59ft 75kg/165lbs (Brake Lines)
  • Short 4-Line Handles
  • Kite Killers (2)

Sam, you are a wealth of information.

I shouldnt have said "handles." I meant wrist straps. I assume it would work on wrist straps because its the same basic layout as my 2 line HQ and 2 line Prism. I tried the bar and didnt much care for it.

As for if its a I or II, not sure. Date on the tags on the bag are 2006.

If all you need are wrist straps, I would say hang on to the lines that came with the kite.

I should be able to send you a pair of straps early next week.

We can U2U/eMail/phone to discuss which flavor of straps you might prefer. About the only ones I would stay to keep away from are the ones with the triangular plastic connectors (straight webbing to leaders would be better).

A little overkill, but if your preference is for Contoured Straps

There should be a couple of those hanging in the bell tower too.

Give a holler and let me know.

I thought about that. But was looking at going a bit longer on the lines. Alot of choppy low level winds inland here and I wanted a bit more reach into the air. I suppose another 20-30 feet wouldnt make that much of a difference.

I do have a set of the Boa straps I use on my delta kites. But the plastic triangles didnt look strong enough given the 220# rating of the line.

I appreciate the offer.... Let me see what materializes in the coming days.

No problem. I didn't realize length was the issue on the lines.

If you don''t get any nibbles, feel free to contact me.

I have a set of HQ 220# lines. They only have one (very, very short) flight on them. I was at a kite festival and a little kid with an SLK cut one of the lines right at the attachment loop, so they need to be re-equalized. They were originally 115', so they will probably lose 6-12 inches. They could also be re-sleeved to any length below that too.
