LMAO....PL can look all they like Lackoslack, they may learn something, just kidding, I got a lot of influence from the Pl suspension buggy, just tried to improve on it a touch

I was just teasin' on the Peter Lynn reference, but now that you said it, it DOES look like a vast improvement on the rough build of the PL suspension axle. Will it fit a PL comp? Do you offer that axle as a stand-alone purchase? Interested, here...

What a fantastic day we all had at Cleethorpes UK yesturday, the wind was off shore about 10-12mph beautiful long runs of about 1.5 mile of perfect hard sand, great. I was excited about giving my buggy its first real run, I got the 5.5 Bullet out for the first time, and I have to admit at times I was over powered, it was great when traveling but when you have 92lbs of buggy traveling at 25mph and want to turn... well I definitely need more practice on the score, as I was coming in to a turn, turn up wind turn the kite and before I had the buggy in the right position as I was hooked in twice got ejected as if I was in a fighter jet up about 6-7 feet and slam dunked back on the ground while my buggy carried on in the wrong direction about another 50m or so.

As the lads who were there know I was just getting started on a long run back to base, when there was an almighty whack, I was traveling about 10-15 mph when we hit some quite strong gusts, out of nowhere was hit on my left rear wheel by another buggier doing about 25mph, again I was lofted in the air as I was still hooked in and dragged on my back about 15m. Once I had got back up I noticed my rear wheel was kicked over about 45 degrees, and luckily no one was hurt. The other guy was another MrBig from race kite forum, he was ok and very apologetic but I know it was purely an accident, just one of those things that can happen any time. Good old (young) Rob came to the rescue because at this stage I was 1.5 mile from our gear, he phone Paul’s to bring a tow rope. LOL as Paul was doing this we realized this buggy could not be towed, oh hell....Martin Cooke from Scunny then turned up and leant me his spanner and finally we managed to get the axle bolt out of the wheel, Martin then went back to collect the spare from my bag (thank god I had a spare), once back quick change, and Paul gave me a tow back to base. Another beer needed at this point.

As mentioned though a great day, I managed 30.3 mph and traveled almost 18 miles. A BIG THANK YOU to all the guys who helped me out there.

That is truely stunning work! Very very nice.

It's been my aspiration to build my own buggy from scratch since I first got started. Not quite there yet, still acquiring the necessary tools and techniques, but getting close. I'm hopeful I'll get started this summer. I have managed to make my own heavy duty extended axle for my PL comp. My 6' 5", 280 lb. are a bit too much for the standard axle, I have to flip it over about every other time I ride it to bend it back the other way!

I'd love to see more pictures. I really like the high back rest pipe, and the joint with the side-rails/down tube looks interesting. I hope to make the neck joint on mine quick-release so that I can take the front wheel off and through it in my truck without tools! And what where the shocks originally from? It's one of the missing pieces I still have.

This is definitely a benchmark for success! Nicely done.

I have just made a purpose built trailer, to carry two buggys, as you said Chip it saves all the hassle of dismantling.

You do some nice looking fabricating there.. looks like you may have a ironworker for some of the bends and such. Really professional looking buggy. I am in the planning stages for a homebrew buggy as well. I dont think there are many people into this from New Brunswick, Canada

I wish,..... I have just been told by my Doc that I must change my career as the bones in my neck have disintergrated and the disks are paper thin, resulting in the vertibras wearing away.....

06 Fandango Buggy has been sold on now, very reluctantly I may add, but needed some funds to buy a tig set, I am soon hoping to make a hybrid version of the Fandango cross Panther buggy at some point soon. It will end up with the best bits of either buggy, but will run on midi's I think...

why midi's? In my experience soft bigfoots deal a lot better with soft sand. Is it a weight issue?

No mate, I have the PTW Panther, set up as a race stlye buggy for the beach, but that buggy is really too big for the local park etc....so basically thats the reason

Just been archive diving and found this

.....brings back happy memories, I note a few posts up I mentioned about my neck vertebra eroding.....funny that only recently I had another xray, and it was confirmed as the doctor put it....

I have had issues with degenerative discs in my neck but haven't had trouble with it for years now.

You've come a long way since the Fandango Popeye. I'm very proud to have one of your buggies in the garage.
