Bar questions

Just so I understand the whole bar thing. If I wanted to get a bar for my beamer 5m, the bar for this type of kite would be different than a bar for a depowered kite right?

If I'm looking at these pictures correctly in this one it appears that the 2 power lines/leader lines connect to the sides of the bar and the brake lines connect to the leash right?

Where as in this one the 2 power lines/leader lines connect to the center line that connects to you and the brake lines are the ones that connect to the ends of the bar.

So with this said if I wanted to get a depower bar like the ozone turbo bar I wouldn't actually get any depowering with the Beamer because I wouldn't use that setup right?

The standard 4 line kite bar is just another means of controlling your kite. You won't get as much input ability out of the kite as with handles, but for things like landboarding, it is somewhat preferred.

With the OZONE Turbo bar, it acts somewhat like a DePower bar. you will need a harness for this bar and it acts somewhat like a DePower, but the kite itself wasn't designed to be a DePower kite.

What it will do is take the force off of your arms and transfer it to your harness.

If you are heading into the land of DePower, I would start with an HQ Apex and go from there. The turbo bar is $200 that could be put towards a DePower.

On a standard 4 line fixed bridle bar you are correct. the
power lines connect to the out side of the bar and the brake lines attach to the center lines and only act as a safety with the leash and give you the ability to reverse launch.

Also check out the HQ x-over bar. It is also a good alternative if you want to fly your fixed bridle on a bar.

I would highly not recommend putting your beamer 5m on a standard bar as it will be very very slow to turn. If you want a bar definitely look into the turbo or x-over.

I looked into putting my fixed bridal kites on a bar as a less expensive alternative to depower when I first started out with this addiction. In short, don't do it. Turning is a lot slower, and you really can't finesse the kite as needed with a bar. Save your cash and buy a real depower kite. Trying to go the cheaper way always results in spending more than if you just went right into it the first time. You will also build up a lot less gear that goes unused. HQ Apex is a great first depower!

+1 for avoiding this option.

I too wasted money and time trying to make FB and a bar work. Everybody told me I was waisting time and they were right.

Use that money on a harness or an actual depower kite.

Hooking in with a FB on a bar isn't as safe as a depower. Let go and it stays powered. Only if you actively push out or pull your QR then be completely depowered. If you learn to fly well you can fly handles one handed, hooked in so I don't see any advantage + plenty of lost control?
