What's the wisdom on Hunting Island? I'll be in Hilton Head for a week, so I'm looking for someplace buggyable nearby. I've seen Hunting Island
mentioned a little here, but it's been a while. Advice?

Best I remember it is a narrow beach at high tide. Don't remember it getting big at low tide. I was only there once but maybe this will help a bit.
You might get room to static fly up at the northern end of the island.

Wait for Phreerider to chime in or send him a U2U. He lives and kites (a lot!) in Hilton Head and is very familiar with the area.

don't know that spot too well its a small space as i remember and public so alot targets most likely. unless u are on the water. better off going
to jekyll. all day rides there. i may make the trip there next good tide cycle.
crowds here are peaking on HHI, never seen it so crowded in 20 years. 23 mile bike ride the other day , all the way up the beach and back down, wow.
huge GA crowds apparently.
hunting is a haul from HHi an hour +. sponatenous trips to Jekyll yield all day fun low tide 1-3pm its a solid 2 hour trip. clear of heavy day
trippers on the week days, easy.
what week?
threading this crowd was easy compared to here

Hey thanks for the responses, guys! I should have said "I'll be in in HH from July 9-16 *if* we decide to go.". Well, you've helped me decide, and
we're not going. I just don't see a week there being a good idea if I can only buggy once or twice (5 hrs round-trip to Jekyll). Neither my wife nor I
are really beach people (well, obviously I am if there's nobody else on the beach, buggy-driving is legal, and there's wind. ; )

So Phreerider is the tide situation much the same at Jekyll during that period? I'm ignorant of tides. I know beaches without much slope to them are
good, but that's about it.
PHREERIDER - 4-6-2011 at 08:18 PM
roughly the the same time period . might be slightly ahead.
the tide height differential along with advancing time .
height swings 6-8 ft over 6+hours and advances into the next hour about every 24 hours.
Yes Jekyll is tide dependent ride spot year round. beyond the hi tide line is unusable and prohibited , dune disturbance is a no no.
tide tables make easy work of it
