Skunked on wind

flyguy0101 - 12-6-2011 at 03:06 PM

Headed to my location to fly today calling for 9-10s nothing great but have not had any wind since jibe and needed/wanted to put a kite up. Got there set up the reactor 6.4 for a little buggy action got the kite up wind died, tried again......kite up and able to static fly but have to work constantly climb in buggy go maybe 50 ft and kite falls from the sky again. Time for the frisbee park the kite and get the frisbee to wait for some more wind. 10 minutes later torential downpour. So broke a sweat got to fly for less then 10 minutes then got soaked- what a way to spend a sunday afternoon :)

Sounds very familiar.

I hear you man. Friday after work it was blowing a nice 17 knots, and forecast to stop, but pick back up on Saturday. Needless to say I opted to go out Saturday morning. My luck it was blowing all Friday night and stopped in the morning about 5:00. This evening it is blowing at about 20km/h for about 30 seconds, then it goes calm for 2 minutes, etc. etc. etc. Seeing the trees move just briefly I want to head to the park, but I know it will lead to disappointment so not gonna bother this time. It would seem that our windless season is here:megan:

Know very well what you mean Scott! Have only flown once since JIBE myself! Been sitting right at 95 deg. or better with no wind for almost two weeks! First chance I get and the wind is over 10, I'm out!

Talk to you soon! Gotta tell you a story anyhow!
