To day is 1 year....

bigkid - 13-6-2011 at 12:39 PM

Might not mean a hill of beans to anyone but my family and ME.
One year ago to day to the minute, me, the beach, and life, came to a cross road at the same moment.

I won.

Having dealt with you as a buyer, I was gutted to hear about your injury, and I've been joyously watching your recovery and loving your progression to BACK, BABY!

Here's hoping you don't have to see what tough stuff you're made of again!

macboy - 13-6-2011 at 04:09 PM

Oh wow.....time really does fly, doesn't it? Good on ya! I trust you put in upgraded parts when you got all put back together?

Bladerunner - 13-6-2011 at 04:25 PM

I find it almost as amazing that you didn't turn your back on the sport as how fast you have come back.
It takes HOOJ balls to get back at it after that big an injury . :cool2:

I have been meaning to ask you for a blow by blow of what happened now that I have " the buggy that bites " .
I think you told us back when how it happened but can you please remind us?

shaggs2riches - 13-6-2011 at 04:43 PM

Man this is definitely an anniversary to remember. Not everyone makes it through that and is able to get back at it like you did. Huge respect.:bigok:

shehatesmyhobbies - 13-6-2011 at 05:56 PM

All of us "locals" are glad that you're back!

bigkid - 13-6-2011 at 10:09 PM

The wife took me out for dinner to celebrate, had a salad and ice tea.:puzzled:

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

Don't remember much of last Summer so this year I plan to go at things a bit more restrained so to say. Getting back in the bug was and still is a bit spooky when the wind picks up.
The wife says I can go play but I have to be able to drive home afterwards, wasn't able to move or breath last year, let alone drive. The pain was so intense the normal 1/2 hour drive to the hospital took over 1 1/2 hours with a few screaming stops along the way,(my screams not the trucks).
The doc said if I get back to 80% of what I was before, he will be extremely happy. No S**T, 80% is at best, one painful day. Every day is a chest full of reminders of what is from now on, pain from having my chest muscles cut to do the repair. 80% is a good day.
Many things I can not do any more. Static fly with out a harness is about 2 minutes long and a couple of Oxy for the rest of the day.
I by no means am bragging about what happened or where I am physically, just telling you all what is normal for me now.

Some of you know what I am talking about and some of you will find out soon enough. I would not wish this on anyone.

I do thank you guys for keeping me in your thoughts during this time, and it means alot to know how close a group we all are. Some of you were there the day it happened and have asked along the way how I was doing. Well the answer is I am alive. The joke at home is, "If my body isn't screaming in pain, I wouldn't know I was alive".

See some of you this weekend at Greyland Beach, right?

bigkid - 13-6-2011 at 10:12 PM
