Location GP Conditions Crowded

Bladerunner - 13-6-2011 at 07:13 PM

This is a video of my virgin run on the Ivanpah.
What should be a lesson to all who envy Van . is just how crowded a situation we deal with.

This was not staged, just business as usual when it stops raining around here.

Crowded...but I would still love a place that big and flat to buggy. Looks like you had a great run.

cheezycheese - 13-6-2011 at 07:32 PM

yeah, no sympathy here bro... wish i had so many people to ride with.... :singing:

acmbarber - 13-6-2011 at 07:56 PM

I remember kiting there this spring. There was a giant lake in the middle of the park. Two other kiters were are at the far end making do with a dry strip next to the parking lot, zipping back and forth in a very coordinated session on a mountain board and a buggy. A buddy and I went to the far end and I laughed as my friend got pulled into the muddy lake. At least GP has dried out...

DAKITEZ - 13-6-2011 at 08:00 PM

It looks like a buggy invasion at GP!

Its not going to be the same having you sitting down in a buggy at nabx instead of standing with that soulful arch I am use to.

bigkid - 13-6-2011 at 10:21 PM

I see the buggy has some experience:lol:, good to see the bug out playing again. I will miss Old Yeller.

ripsessionkites - 14-6-2011 at 01:06 AM

Did you cut off the handbrake yet? It's probably leaving a lot of tracks at GP. Hehehe.
Sorry I couldn't resist.

Nice video, BR!!!

BeamerBob - 14-6-2011 at 08:10 AM

My impressions were how nice to have all the people to ride with, and its actually a fairly big place to play. It will be strange passing you in a buggy next year at nabx. At least you will stand out from the crowd with the yellow. Rip, the handbrake quip actually made me laugh out loud!

bobalooie57 - 14-6-2011 at 08:40 AM

Nice video, BR. I hope to see many more! :bigok: I wouldn't take ricky's hand brake comment too seriously, just launcing that big phanny in that crowd took some hooj ones.(IMHO, but what do I know, I fly alone most of the time)I bet that I-pah ride was sweet!

airin - 14-6-2011 at 10:46 AM

Good choice of music there, BR. wink2

Strange how that camera lense causes the field to look so much bigger than it really is...oh well more for the others to envy!

I'm liking your new bug; always good to spice up the sport with a little colour whenever possible. :wee:::

PHREERIDER - 14-6-2011 at 12:16 PM

It looks waaay bigger through a Gopro than in real life. The tack that BR is less than 200m long.

You should have stopped by to talk. I hope your friend did not pick up anything nasty from his dip in the pond. ;)

I couldn't be more happy to have such a great crew to ride with. Good people we have got and I agree they make the sport so much more fun! :cool2:
Most become pretty good riders or drop out due to the tight conditions.

When the wind picked up later that day we could travel farther and do our version of " the out and back " through " Lupin lane " .

That was only my second day with the Big Yellow Phantom. Perfect match for our winds and the Big Yellow Buggy ! Both are a bit big for our park so I think I will keep FrankinBuggy.

The joke about the " hand brake " is that Big Kid had a bar welded on that ran under the seat for His safety system. It would high centre me at the top of the hill + jam down as I passed over sand pits. Just wasn't working on our rough terrain. + begged for explanation every time somebody looked at the buggy. . Yes Coolbreeze removed it for me. It is back to stock now!

Scudley - 17-6-2011 at 09:00 PM

Ken,
How about putting up a slow motion version. I was trying to count the kites. There are at least 8 kites, Ricky, Grant, K3, Ron, Dirtslide , Becky, me, and maybe Edward, (it is hard to tell as he was flying his 6m which is nearly the same as colours as Becky's 4). Did I miss anyone? Gerald? Ed B.? I think that is the most people we have had, in a video, flying at the same time.
Awesome flying today S10-14

Bladerunner - 18-6-2011 at 05:31 AM

At that point I think it's the 3 Kens , Scudley, Dustysocks, Eddy B, Coolbreeze and Rip'.

Eddy freestyle, Marie and Roland joined us later.

I will put the whole vid on a DVD for you to play with. That was just the 1st run of the Ivanpah.

Scudley - 18-6-2011 at 08:05 AM

You forgot RonH. There are a couple of flashes of Cooper in there, I think. From trying to figure out what is going on around you, it appears there are a few nice needle threadings and some pretty fancy collision avoidance moves.
Thanks
S

Nice video! What size bar where you using? that puppy was turning like a cruise ship :D

Bladerunner - 19-6-2011 at 08:09 AM

That was my Large ( 60cm ? ) 07 from my Synergy.

When you say " like a cruise ship " I'm not clear? I was actaully very impressed with the turning speed of the 18 ?
Much Much faster than my old 18m Guerilla . It was pretty low wind. Sub 10kt for sure !

dirtslide - 23-6-2011 at 09:10 PM
